Job summary

Collins Mfg is seeking a Junior Assembler in New York to support the assembly department with routine tasks, light assembly, and visual inspections. You will read routers and work instructions to ensure correct components and specifications are used.

The role emphasizes learning blueprints and assembly processes, maintaining clean work areas, and following safety guidelines while contributing to a productive team environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma preferred but not required.
  • Prefer 6 months of related experience – manufacturing or machine shop environment.
  • Must be detail-oriented, dependable and trustworthy.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills and works well with all members of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine requirements of set-up, operations, and final assembly.
  • Assemble with inspection, removing/installing fasteners, painting, pressing pins, and other mechanical tasks.
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to lead or design.
  • Regularly perform mechanical operations by hand, with tools and with light equipment.
  • Perform general inspection of components before, during and after assembly and document results.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere and communicate effectively with co-workers.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Performs all assigned assembly operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

The Junior Assembler assists the assembly department daily as needed. Unpacking, visually inspecting product, cleaning paint fixtures and light assembly are main priorities. Reading routers, work instructions, and taking directions to identify components and specifications that are required for assembly conformance or visual requirements is also required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Will learn to study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine requirements of set-up, operations, and final assembly.
  • The assembly process is involved with inspection, removing and installing fasteners, painting, pressing pins, and other mechanical tasks.
  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to lead or design.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is periodically exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
