Base pay range

$70,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr

Jr. Accounting Manager (Salary Range: $70,000 – $80,000)

LHH is seeking a Jr. Accounting Manager for a nonprofit organization located in Austin, Texas. This role plays a key part in maintaining financial accuracy and integrity across multiple revenue streams and systems, with responsibilities spanning accounts receivable, reconciliations, audit support, and financial system improvements.

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting and have at least 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, specifically within a nonprofit environment. In addition to being well-versed in GAAP and FASB ASC 958 standards, the candidate must demonstrate strong organizational skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to manage complex financial systems. Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop, Excel, and various financial platforms is essential. Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, payment posting, reconciliations, collections, and communication with families or donors.
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and accurately track both restricted and unrestricted funds.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, depreciation schedules, and monthly reconciliations as part of the financial close process.
  • Collaborate across departments such as Admissions, Development, and Camp Programs to align revenue recognition and budgeting efforts.
  • Support annual audits through documentation preparation, account analysis, and direct interaction with auditors.
  • Manage purchases and vendor orders while monitoring for budget compliance and appropriate coding.
  • Assist in calculating and submitting Texas state sales tax for campus store and event sales.
  • Provide financial aid support by reviewing applications and coordinating eligibility determinations with internal teams.
  • Serve as backup to the accounts payable function, ensuring smooth invoice processing and disbursements.
  • Participate in special financial projects, including system reconciliations, donor tracking, and process improvement initiatives.

Client Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
  • A minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in nonprofit accounting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and FASB guidelines, particularly ASC 958 for nonprofits.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with QuickBooks Desktop and NelNet FACTS.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented attitude aligned with mission-driven work.
