Job summary

County of Ventura Health Care Agency seeks a Licensed Mental Health Associate to provide services under clinical supervision to mental health clients and their families, and to coordinate with community agencies serving mental health clients. The role includes teaching social and daily living skills, client advocacy, and participating in evaluation and treatment planning.

• Two (2) years experience as a Senior Psychiatric Technician or equivalent, direct patient care in a mental health setting.
• One (1) year of the experience requirement may be met by substituting a Bachelor's degree in Social-Behavioral Sciences including psychology, social work, or sociology.
• Requires the handling of medication and therefore, requires a valid Psychiatric Technician (PT), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) License.

• Participate as a team member in client evaluation, treatment planning and implementation of approved treatment plans.
• Serve as a client advocate and assist clients in using community resources.
• All the above activities will be supervised by a Psychiatric Social Worker, Mental Health Nurse, Clinical Psychologist or a Psychiatrist.

EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE

Possible educational incentive of 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% based on completion of Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree.

Licensed Mental Health Associates are represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and are eligible for overtime compensation.

NOTE: This class is within a bargaining unit that is subject to an "agency shop" arrangement, which mandates all regular employees either join Local 721 of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and pay dues as a member, or pay either a "service fee" to Local 721 or direct that an amount equivalent to the "service fee" be distributed to a qualified charitable organization.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future regular, temporary, fixed-term and extra-help vacancies for this position within Health Care Agency.
