Job summary

Strike Group in Cranbrook, BC is seeking a Journeyperson Service Electrician to install, test, and maintain electrical systems for climate control, security, lighting, and power.

Ideal candidates hold a Journeyperson or Red Seal, can pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing, and commit to a culture of safety while supporting travel and fluctuating shift schedules as work demands.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Journeyperson or Red Seal Electrician certificate.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing.
• Must have a clean driver's abstract.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine layouts of electrical equipment installations.
• Install, examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring and components.
• Test electrical and electronic equipment for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
• Maintain, repair, test, and install switchgear, transformers, and control systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical and electronic control systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and keep maintenance records.

POSITION SUMMARY

Journeyperson Service Electricians possess the full range of knowledge required to install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems for a variety of purposes, including climate control, security, lighting, power sources and communications. With shops in Calgary, Fort Saskatchewan, Bonnyville, and Saskatoon, the E&I team works on local projects as well as site projects located throughout Western Canada.

POSITION DETAILS

• Must be local to Cranbrook, BC
• Candidates must be willing to travel and work fluctuating shift schedules as the work demands

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must possess a valid Journeyperson or Red Seal Electrician certificate
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
• Must have a clean driver's abstract
• Commercial/Industrial maintenance background is preferred

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine layouts of industrial electrical equipment installations
• Install, examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components
• Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance
• Maintain, repair, install, and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators, and reactors
• Maintain, repair, test, and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries, and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial, electrical, and electronic control systems and other related devices
• Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
• May install, maintain, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices.
