About the Role

Ashland Specialty Ingredients, G.P. invites an E&I Technician to join our Hopewell Plant in Hopewell, VA. This is a highly visible role within the company and the Maintenance function, reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager.

Responsibilities

• Perform calibration of instrument systems and document the calibration on PM work orders
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical components
• Troubleshoot and repair instrument systems
• Maintain actuated valves including removal/installation, rebuild valves, and adjust limit switches, actuators and positioners
• Install new electrical and instrumentation systems, running conduit, pulling wire, installing devices, terminating wires, and checking the system for startup
• Perform basic troubleshooting of PLCs and DCSs
• Read and comprehend plant documentation (circuit sets, loop sheets, one-line diagrams, vendor maintenance and installation manuals)

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 4 years of experience as an Electrical and/or Instrumentation Technician in an industrial environment
• Journeyman certificate

Preferred Skills

• Completion of a 2‑year Associate’s degree in Instrumentation or a related field
• Knowledge of PLC & DCS systems, motors, power & control circuits, and electronic & pneumatic field instrumentation
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to read instrument & electrical diagrams
• Applied knowledge in Electrical, Instrumentation, and basic general maintenance
• Knowledge of:
• Intrinsically safe design
• Power circuits (motors)
• Variable frequency drives (ABB)
• Power distribution
• Industrial instrumentation
• Basic understanding of DCS & PLC programming
• Experience utilizing a CMMS with a thorough understanding of electrical safety requirements
• Knowledge of and experience in reliability programs
