Under Class 3 supervision, with wide latitude for planning or laying out of working details with responsibility for
results, must be able to perform difficult and responsible tasks involved in the installation and removal of electric
meters, services, and related equipment on customers' premises, connect and disconnect services at the pole, locate
and repair all types of breaks in the electric transmission and distribution systems, answer electric trouble calls to
customers' premises, and be qualified to do the following and related work as assigned:
1. Be willing and able to perform all of the duties of a Journeyman Lineman.
2. Trace and clear grounds and opens on series circuits.
3. Test, switch and inspect all types of automatic voltage regulating devices.
4. Make routine check, inspection, test of relays, timer, etc. on all automatic reclosing equipment.
5. Refuse all classes of high voltage substations and line fuses.
6. Make routine check, inspection, maintenance and test of substation network protectors, transformers,
regulators, switching, control and related equipment.
7. Conduct voltage, load, substation, electrolysis, ground and other special tests.
8. Make complete insulation test on potheads, transformers, cables, bushings, etc.
9. Act in capacity of supervisor when authorized. (Refer to exception in (B, 1.)
10. Follow Safety Action Plan “SAP” expectations according to minimum required qualifications. (Rev 03
dated 7/15/2023) If the SAP is to be revised the Company will notify the Union of any proposed
changes prior to the effective date of the change, and upon request by the Union, meet and negotiate
any change.

EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1. Must have worked for at least 6 months or received crew lead training as a Journeyman Lineman or have had equivalent experience in related work, having all qualifications of the previous classifications.
• • Exception – Journeyman Lineman with less than 6 months may become a Journeyman Serviceman but will not be eligible to act in the capacity of a crew lead on anything above medium complexity tasks until the completion of crew lead training. Journeyman Serviceman working under this exception must complete crew lead qualifications within a reasonable amount of time.
• 2. Completion of 700 level certification
• 3. Know Company's safety rules, and be able to administer all approved methods of resuscitation, and be able to render practical first aid on or off the ground.
• 4. Know the location of, and be able to operate, all of the firefighting equipment. Know what kind of equipment to use on electrical, oil and other fires.
• 5. Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
• 6. Know city streets, and roads in rural sections.
• 7. Have a thorough knowledge of city and state traffic laws.
• 8. Have a thorough knowledge of Company regulations and state laws governing disconnects for nonpayment, and diversion of current.
• 9. Have working knowledge of Company's practices and standards.
• 10. Have thorough working knowledge of electric circuits and equipment.
• 11. Know Company's rules and regulations applying to service and meter installations, National Electrical Code, and any state or local regulations governing electrical wiring.
• 12. Be able to read and understand all wiring diagrams and blueprints in connection with the distribution system, meters, switchboard equipment, relays, controls and also related Company equipment on customers' premises.
• 13. Know Company's electrical and mechanical tagging rules including Switchman certification.
• 14. Have thorough knowledge of the layout and characteristics of distribution system in the area assigned.
• 15. Be able to study, maintain and report performance of new equipment installed as related to the distribution system.
• 16. Be able to trace, locate and analyze difficult cases of trouble.
• 17. Fully understand and be proficient in using technology needed to perform job such as equipment controls, computers, tablets and associated software.
• 18. Accurately identify and record all changes to Company equipment according to Company requirements.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

• 1. Must have full use of mental and physical faculties.
• 2. Have strength and endurance adequate for arduous labor in all kinds of outdoor weather conditions.
• 3. Be able to work at heights and close spaces.
• 4. Good hand-eye coordination and physical dexterity.

D. PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• 1. Be particularly alert in observing hazards and avoiding accidents.
• 2. Be willing to work under unusual surroundings, as well as the normal working conditions pertaining to this job.
• 3. Be able to receive and transmit orders and instructions in such a manner as to inspire respect and confidence of both superiors and subordinates.

• 5. Possess all personal qualifications of Journeyman Lineman
