Position: Journeyman Plumber

Pay Grade: MT-7

Duty Days: 240

Salary: $21.88 (minimum)

Qualifications
  • Valid Texas Journeyman’s Plumbing License
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
Duties Include But Are Not Limited To The Following
  • Expedite emergency work on plumbing.
  • Assist in planning new construction projects.
  • Inspect new construction.
  • Perform necessary repairs, replacement of boilers, pumps, and all other plumbing.
  • Initiate necessary checks.
  • Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication on plumbing when necessary.
  • Initiate purchase of supplies for assigned equipment.
  • Assist in cataloging information on district plumbing equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and emergency service.
  • Complete necessary work tickets on hours worked, job costs, and associated information pertaining to work performed.
  • Maintain all drains.
  • Make gas system check as required by law.
  • Make periodic checks and perform repairs on lift stations.
  • Repair laundry and kitchen equipment as needed.
  • Install and replace lab equipment.
  • Maintain and repair lift stations as needed.
  • Make any other repairs not covered by specific assignment.
  • Service as supervisor over projects when crews are needed as required by coordinator of plumbing division.
  • Maintain accurate inventory as needed.
  • Report to the Maintenance Department’s Coordinator of Plumbing.
Work Conditions
  • Work outside and inside; exposed to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and odors. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards.
  • Work around moving objects and vehicles.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Moderate irregular hours.
  • Works with frequent interruptions.
  • Preparation of materials may involve packing, moving, and lifting of equipment and supplies.
