Job summary

The Stellar Group seeks a Journeyman Pipefitter to install, inspect, and maintain high/low-pressure piping systems across industrial settings. You will read blueprints, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes.

With 5+ years of pipefitting experience, you will work both independently and in teams, traveling nationwide as projects demand. Stellar emphasizes safety and qualified welding familiarity within a 30+ year firm history.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a pipefitter preferred.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and other process systems.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and practices.
  • Familiarity with welding techniques and equipment.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification preferred.
  • Certification in Pipefitting by a recognized organization.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, and maintain low and high-pressure piping systems and fixtures in industrial settings.
  • Read and understand design documents, including isometric and orthographic drawings.
  • Plan, lay‑out, install and/or repair all types of pipe and/or similar tubular products in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Use appropriate hand and power tools to accurately measure, cut, assemble, and install all types of pipe and/or similar tubular products.
  • Utilize all pipe fitting techniques and methods for different types of piping systems and pipe couplings including butt welded, socket welded, threaded, Victaulic, grooved, soldered/brazed, glued, and fused joints.
  • Understand and implement lockout/tagout procedures in a safe manner.
  • Follow established jobsite safety and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain, and take any corrective action needed.
  • Troubleshoot complex pipe systems and provide effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned

Description

The Journeyman Pipefitter will be responsible for installing, inspecting, and maintaining low and high-pressure piping systems and fixtures in various industrial settings. The candidate will utilize their expertise in reading blueprints, schematics, and maintaining compliance with safety standards and building codes. Additionally, the Journeyman Pipefitter will be expected to troubleshoot installation issues and provide effective solutions in a timely manner.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Install, inspect, and maintain low and high-pressure piping systems and fixtures in industrial settings
  • Read and understand design documents, including isometric and orthographic drawings

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical specifications
  • Expertise in installing, maintaining, and repairing pipe systems and related equipment
  • Ability to work with various piping materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, poly/HDPE, copper, and various high pressure/temperature alloys
  • Adept at using specialized tools and equipment for pipefitting tasks
  • Ability to operate mechanically powered lifting equipment for both personnel and materials as trained
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in work
Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a pipefitter preferred
  • Familiarity with mechanical and other process systems
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and practices
  • Familiarity with welding techniques and equipment
  • OSHA 10-hour certification preferred
  • Certification in Pipefitting by a recognized organization
Travel Requirements:
  • Anticipated 100% travel to project sites nationwide
  • Ability to travel occasionally to attend meetings, trainings, and events
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to wear and utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements
  • Ability to move in and around confined and cluttered places and uneven areas
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to and exceeding 50 pounds
  • Adequate vision to perform all required tasks
  • Work on ladders, scaffolding, and rooftops
  • Comfortable with heights and able to climb and descend safely
  • Strong sense of balance and spatial awareness
