Job summary

Fields Collision Center Glenview seeks an experienced Journeyman Painter to join our team. The Journeyman Painter is responsible for preparing surfaces, applying paint and coatings, and completing interior and exterior painting projects to a high standard of quality and workmanship.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, tools, materials, and safety procedures and can work independently while maintaining productivity and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a professional painter; journeyman-level experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of surface preparation, painting techniques, and coating applications.
• Ability to work with brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and other painting tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare interior and exterior surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, scraping, caulking, patching, and priming.
• Apply paint, stain, varnish, sealants, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, sprayers, and other appropriate equipment.
• Mix and match paints and coatings to achieve required colors and finishes.
• Inspect completed work to ensure proper coverage, consistency, and quality.
• Repair cracks, holes, dents, and other surface imperfections before painting.
• Protect floors, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and surrounding areas from paint and overspray.
• Set up, operate, clean, and maintain painting equipment and tools.
• Read and follow work orders, specifications, and product instructions.
• Identify and report surface conditions or issues that may affect the quality of the finished product.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and proper handling procedures for paints, solvents, and other materials.
• Work independently or alongside other trades and team members to complete projects on schedule.
• Assist apprentices and less-experienced painters with proper techniques and safe work practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
