Job summary

Greeley-Evans School District 6 is seeking a Journeyman (or Master) Electrician for the Facilities team. The role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems across district facilities, ensuring NEC compliance and coordinating with other trades.

The schedule is 6:00 am – 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with a 260-day contract period. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with four years of verifiable electrical maintenance experience, and current

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or GED and valid certifications as listed.
  • First Aid/CPR within six months of hire.
  • Asbestos Operations & Maintenance Certification within six months.
  • Mold Awareness Certification within six months.
  • At least four years of verifiable electrical maintenance and repair experience.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain electric wiring, lighting systems, fire alarms, and related equipment.
  • Maintain primary electrical distribution, circuit breakers, and transformers.
  • Repair motors, pumps, clocks, and shop/kitchen equipment.
  • Direct the activities of other technicians and assist in design of control circuitry.
  • Operate heavy equipment as needed and perform work with minimal supervision.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective: Employee performs skilled electrical work in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment. Responsibilities also include making estimates of material and costs for new installations, ensuring that the NEC requirements of all local, state and national codes are met. Coordinates with other related trades. Assignments are received orally or in writing and may be accompanied by pencil sketches or blueprints. Work is performed without supervision but may be inspected on completion.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs work according to printed information on the Facilities Department work order system
  • Accomplishes duties of mechanical maintenance and repair without direct supervision on a daily basis
  • Installs and maintains electric wiring, motor wiring and lighting systems, fire alarms, scoreboards, intercommunication equipment, heating and ventilation circuitry and equipment
  • Maintains primary electrical distribution systems, circuit breakers, and transformers
  • Maintains and repairs motors, pumps, clocks, shop and kitchen equipment, and other electrical equipment
  • Directs the activities of other technicians
  • Designs control circuitry and panels as needed
  • Operates heavy equipment as needed

Additional Qualifications: Ability to follow and understand oral and written instructions. Ability to deal tactfully with the public and staff. Ability to respond under pressure to immediate situations while maintaining courteous and professional relationships with staff members and the public. Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to use good judgment and common sense. Ability to follow established safety practices. Ability to work independently and with others. Ability to read and interpret plans (blueprints). Excellent math skills. Ability to perform all functions of the position.

Other Duties:

  • Maintains assigned assets, vehicles, and tools.
  • May participate in asbestos removal with appropriate training.
  • Removes snow and responds to emergencies.
  • Knowledge and skills sufficient to perform all duties of the position.
  • Prefers a work environment where flexibility, ability to deal with conflict, a high tolerance for stress, an ability to quickly internalize information and make informed decisions, and long hours are a part of the assignment.
