Job summary

As a Journeyman Network Plant Technician (ISP / OSP), you will be responsible for the hands‑on installation, maintenance, and support of the telecommunications infrastructure. This position supports both Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) environments, enabling the physical network backbone for mission‑critical communications. This role works closely with engineers and installers to implement structured cabling, fiber and copper pathways, and telecommunications room build‑outs.

Position will be located at Patrick SFB.

This position is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X.

Responsibilities
  • Implements physical fiber and copper cable plants, power connections (in coordination with licensed electricians), conduits, patch panels, butterfly diagrams.
  • Restores facilities to pre‑install or better conditions.
  • Works on telecommunication projects of varying size, scope, complexity, and location and supports preliminary development of the SPRIP.
  • Participates in and/or attends site surveys, assisting Network Plan Engineers in documenting current site ISP / OSP configurations.
  • Assists Network Plant Engineers in the design and optimization of the supporting infrastructure in support of the SPRIP.
  • Performs circuit testing for voltage, amperage, continuity, and safety after installation and adjusts as needed.
  • Understands and follows all applicable standards (i.e., the National Electric Code).
  • Supports deployment teams for survey, installation, testing, and QA activities.
  • Supports pre‑implementation coordination activities.
  • Supports safe work environments.
  • Identifies and resolves minor project problems to reduce project and program risks.
  • Conducts systems pre‑tests and acceptance tests to validate the designed performance criteria.
  • Ensuring installations are performed within safety standards and work site conditions (cleanliness), including restoration of the site to original or better condition.
  • Coordinates work effort with ISP / OSP engineers and/or subcontractors.
Material & Equipment Directly Used
  • General user capabilities of Microsoft software applications required (primarily Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word and Microsoft Teams or SharePoint).
  • Proficient with AutoCAD.
Working Environment

Office environment with potential to support austere locations.

Physical Activities

Must be able to lift / carry 50 lbs.

Qualifications
Education / Certifications
  • High School Diploma or Associate Degree.
  • (Preferred) BICSI certification.
  • (Preferred) advanced certification on the testing equipment used to test the fiber.
Experience / Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing as a Network Plant Technician supporting fiber installations solutions on large, complex networks with a High School or Associate Degree.
  • Experience supporting DoD projects, specifically network modernization projects.
Clearance Requirement
  • This position requires an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret (Tier 3) level clearance.

  • General user capabilities of Microsoft software applications required (primarily Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word and Microsoft Teams or SharePoint).
  • Proficient with AutoCAD.
