A Master Plumber is the highest skilled level position in the plumbing trade area. Journeymen who have gone through extensive training to attain diverse knowledge of plumbing. Working as a journeyman plumber is a requirement to become a master plumber. Installs, maintains and repairs systems in a highly skilled manner that exceeds the expertise of regular plumbers. Responsible for maintaining and repairing both outdoor and indoor plumbing components related to natural gas systems. Personnel highly experienced in the roles and responsibilities and has their Master Plumber certificate from the state of Colorado. Job roles include but are not limited to: Master Plumber must have 5 years or 8500 hours of experience.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Diagnose common and diverse plumbing gas emergencies efficiently and accurately.
• Strong residential service experience and strong troubleshooting skills.
• Maintain and repair plumbing components related to natural gas systems.
• Monitor other plumbers working on commercial and residential sites.
• Maintain safety policies and procedures.
• Perform troubleshooting tasks and repair gas distribution systems.
• Interpret blueprints to plan how to conduct repairs and modifications.
• Expose to risk of electrical shock.
• Work near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places, in confined spaces, trenches and ditches, and in outdoor weather conditions.
• Occasional exposure to wet/humid, dusty, extreme heat, vibration.
• Noise level usually loud.
• Unexpected interruptions; stress moderate to high.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Understand standard tools, materials, methods, practices wide within plumbing trade.
• Comprehension of plumbing construction, maintenance, principles of practical plumbing and plumbing codes.
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft software applications.
• Moderate to strenuous effort required.
• Perform extended intervals of standing, walking, climbing, bending, crouching, working at heights from ladders, scaffolds, platforms and repetitive movements of hand/wrist/shoulder.
• Lift and/or move up to 100 pounds regularly.
• Occasional climbing, balancing, talking and hearing required.
• Work in confined, noisy, hot, cold spaces; use hand tools and shop equipment.
• Vision: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Familiar with CMMS software including WebTMA or similar work order system.

Experience and Education

• A high school diploma or G.E.D.
• Current valid Journeyman or Master Plumbing License; licensed by the State of Colorado.
• 2+ years of Residential Plumbing Service & repair experience (diagnosing & troubleshooting a normal plumbing system).
• Leak Location and Repair preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ADA, IBC, and IPC regulations.
• Pass a pre-employment physical exam and lift 100 lbs.
• Confined space entry qualification.

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications

• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid State of Residence Driver’s License within two weeks of employment.
• Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
