Job description

Tenneco Powertrain (previously Federal-Mogul) has rewarding opportunities for a Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic at our Greenville, MI facility. This position provides mechanical support for the plant machinery and equipment. The Greenville facility has been in operation for over 80 years as a leading supplier of bearings, bushings, and washers to the automotive and industrial markets.

General duties include but are not limited to:
  1. troubleshoot pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical problems.
  2. fabricate sheet metal parts and safety guards for equipment.
  3. perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
  4. move, align, level, and install machinery.
  5. build, install, and maintain electrical system and equipment for plant.
  6. be responsible for the startup and shutdown of specific plant machines and equipment.
  7. understand and operate according to ISO/IATF work instructions for area.
  8. participate in process improvement.
  9. maintain housekeeping in the department in order to facilitate a neat, safe, and orderly work environment.
  10. have the responsibility and authority to prevent non‑conformances relating to product, process, and quality systems, including stopping production when suspect product is being run. Job‑specific authority and responsibilities for quality are defined in the work instructions for that job/department.
  11. perform all other duties as assigned by a supervisor. Assist management as appropriate to ensure all environmental and safety regulations as well as best practices are met and/or exceeded. Ensure proper segregation and labeling of all waste products and recyclables and minimize waste wherever possible. Adhere to all plant safety rules.
Position Requirements and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Ability to be licensed and drive a powered industrial truck.
  • Ability to work any shift (7 am - 3 pm; 3 pm - 11 pm; 11 pm - 7 am)
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary.
  • 8 years of experience or a journeyman's card.
  • Previous experience in an automotive manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Allen Bradley hardware/software experience preferred.
Skills:
  • Knowledge and use of precision gauging equipment.
  • Knowledge of machine tool operation and machine design.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to do basic math.
  • Ability to work in a team or individual environment.
