Job summary

Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC seeks an Overhead Distribution A Lineperson to install and maintain overhead distribution systems and related equipment. The role involves installing transformers, switches, and insulators, and performing both new construction and repairs on energized lines with strict safety compliance.

Travel for emergency storm work is required; candidates must be willing to out-of-state travel and meet physical requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must have heavy equipment knowledge and safety awareness.
  • Experience with energized high-voltage systems preferred.
  • Ability to climb structures and operate specialized tools.

Responsibilities

  • Set poles and anchors; string overhead wire.
  • Install transformers, arrestors, crossarms, insulators and switches.
  • Perform construction, maintenance, or repair on energized/de-energized lines per safety rules.
  • Troubleshoot primary/secondary systems.
  • Replace fuses and clear faulted circuits.
  • Test and inspect tools and equipment daily for safety.
  • Report injuries and safety concerns to Foreperson.
  • Assist with installation of overhead power supply.
  • Other duties as requested by Supervisors.

Job Title: Overhead Distribution A Lineperson

Job description summary: A line worker installs and fixes overhead distribution and transmis-sion systems, which includes poles, cables, and electrical systems. Line Workers also fit, repair, and maintain underground cables and electrical equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Setting of poles and anchors. Stringing overhead wire.
  • Installing transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
  • Performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead line work while complying with all Safety and Health rules
  • Troubleshooting issues with primary and secondary systems.
  • Replacing cutout fuses and clearing faulted circuits and systems
  • Ensure daily testing and inspection of assigned tools and equipment to maintain equip-ment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Reports all injuries, near misses and other safety and health concerns to Foreperson
  • Any other duties related to the installation of overhead power supply.
  • All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have knowledge of heavy equipment.
  • Ability to problem solve with unidentified circumstances on any job.
  • Must have knowledge of working with energized high voltage systems requiring specific skill set.
  • Must be able to climb different structures and possess the tools to do the climb.
  • Must be able to identify, operate and service all required tools and equipment. (i.e., bucket truck, digger derrick truck, tensioners, puller, rollers, hand tamp, chain saw, concrete saw, shovel)

Education and experience:

  • At least 4 years of electrical linework experience.
  • Be able to provide proof of work experience, schooling, and any certifications that you have obtained during your career.

Traveling Requirements:

  • Must be willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.

Driver License:

  • Valid Driver’s License is preferred, but can be discussed during interview process.
  • Valid CDL is preferred or willingness to obtain valid CDL within 90 days of employment. If unable to obtain, please discuss this during the interview process.

Safety:

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge dis-tance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as neces-sary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance nec-essary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a stand-ard 8 or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict pro-fessionally.

Pre-Screen

  • Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally (up to 33%): Sitting, Kneeling, and Crawling
