Job summary

Xcel Energy is hiring at the Montevideo Service Center in Montevideo, MN for Journeyman Lineman / Advanced Step Apprentice. The role involves construction, maintenance and emergency repairs of distribution and transmission systems within the service territory.

The successful candidate must reside within 20 miles of the Montevideo center, hold required line-school/Journeyman credentials, and be able to work at heights, travel, and pass safety exams. Competitive hourly pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a degree/diploma from an accepted Line School or a state issued Journeyman certificate for an Advanced step position.
• Must possess a state issued Journeyman certificate and pass a company skills assessment for a Journeyman position.
• Experience with digger derricks, bucket trucks, trenchers is required.
• Must be able to work at heights up to and above 100 feet.
• Must be willing to travel and work away from home.
• Must be able to communicate effectively; have good teamwork skills and able to understand, comprehend, and follow directions in the workplace
• Must have a quality work ethic and be committed to optimum customer service.
• Must be able to work additional hours, respond to after hours and weekend call outs.
• A high awareness of safety and compliance with company safety rules is required at all times.
• Just meet driver qualification requirements as specified in FMCSR Parts 382 and 391 including the possession of a valid Commercial Drivers License Class A.
• Must live within a 20 miles radius from the Montevideo Service Center.

We anticipate the need for one or more Journeyman Lineman / Advanced Step Apprentice (5th step or higher) to join our team at our Montevideo Service Center in Montevideo, MN. The Journeyman hourly rate for this position is $62.27, and the 5th Step Apprentice rate is $49.82.

This position will be posted for 10 Working Days from October 12, 2026, to October 23, 2026.
