Job summary

Jetson is seeking experienced HVAC Installers in Columbia, MD to replace aging gas equipment with high-quality heat pump systems. You will install end-to-end, recover refrigerants, evacuate, and charge with precision, while keeping work areas tidy and compliant with codes.

You will read blueprints, coordinate with the team, and deliver a standout customer experience, communicating clearly and maintaining high standards in every job.

Qualifications

• Requires solid hands-on residential HVAC install experience in attics, crawlspaces, and tight spaces.
• Maryland HVACR Journeyman License required (issued by Maryland Board).
• EPA Section 608 Certification required or in progress.
• Ability to read blueprints/wiring diagrams and stay compliant with local codes.
• Strong focus on quality and customer communication.
• Physical stamina for heavy equipment and varied conditions.

Responsibilities

• Complete full heat pump system installs from start to finish, removing gas furnaces and old systems.
• Perform refrigerant recovery, system evacuation, and proper charging.
• Prepare spaces after removal to start the new install smoothly.
• Read blueprints and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate installs and troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with local building codes before job wrap-up.
• Deliver excellent customer experience by addressing questions and concerns on-site.

We're looking for experienced HVAC Installers who take real pride in their craft: technicians who can walk into any home, pull out aging gas equipment, and leave behind a flawlessly installed heat pump system and a homeowner who's genuinely excited about what they just got. This isn't a run-of-the-mill installation gig — you'll be working on the front lines of the clean energy transition, shaping how we improve our process, and representing Jetson in the moments that matter most to our customers. What You’ll Do:

• Complete full heat pump system installs from start to finish — including removing existing gas furnaces and air conditioning equipment and leaving the space clean and ready


• Execute refrigerant recovery, system evacuation, and proper charging with care and precision


• Prep spaces thoughtfully after equipment removal so the new install starts on the right foot


• Read blueprints and wiring diagrams to execute installs accurately and troubleshoot confidently


• Stay current on local building codes and make sure every job is compliant before you wrap


• Deliver a standout customer experience — answer questions clearly, address concerns on the spot, and leave homeowners feeling great about their decision


• Catch quality issues early — yours or anyone else's — and speak up when something needs to be corrected


• Maintain organized, well-stocked vehicles and warehouse as part of your daily routine


• Collaborate with fellow installers and our engineering team to flag better ways of doing things and help us continuously raise the bar.

What You Bring:

• Solid hands-on residential HVAC install experience, including working in attics, crawlspaces, and tight or physically demanding environments


• Active Maryland HVACR Journeyman License issued by the Maryland Board of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) Contractors (required)


• Ability to work independently as well as working alongside a crew


• EPA Section 608 Certification (required or actively in progress)


• Ability to read blueprints and wiring schematics


• Working knowledge of local building codes and how to stay compliant


• Strong refrigerant handling skills — recovery, evacuation, and charging done right


• A sharp eye for quality and a low tolerance for cutting corners


• Clear, professional communication with both customers and teammates


• A problem-solving mindset when installs don't go exactly as planned


• Physical stamina to handle heavy equipment and work across varied conditions


• Experience with heat pumps or mini-splits is a strong plus — we'll invest in growing that expertise if you're eager to learn


• Follows OSHA Electrical Standard


• Follows the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) standard

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $32 - $41 per hour
