Job summary

Providence Health & Services in Anchorage, Alaska seeks a Journeyman Engineer to ensure reliability, safety, and performance of building systems across our facilities.

The role requires hands-on problem solving and strong trade skills in electrical, mechanical, welding, plumbing, and controls, with the ability to work in a hospital environment.

Qualifications

  • Extensive specialized training courses or equivalent experience.
  • 4 years of building control systems inspection, testing, repair and maintenance in a hospital environment.
  • Licenses required or equivalent regulatory credentials at hire.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain and troubleshoot building control systems across hospital facilities.
  • Perform electrical, electronic, sheet metal, welding, plumbing and ventilation tasks as needed.
  • Engage in mechanical, machine shop, hydraulics, carpentry and painting work to support operations.
  • Assist with ceiling, floor installation, plastering, concrete and masonry projects.
  • Ensure safety, reliability and performance of building systems in patient care areas.

The Journeyman Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of complex building systems. This position requires a highly skilled and versatile professional with deep expertise in automated building controls and the ability to perform a broad range of technical, mechanical, and trade‑related tasks. Ideal candidates thrive in a hands‑on environment, enjoy problem‑solving, and can adapt to diverse maintenance and engineering challenges across a facility.

  • National Boiler Operator Grade II License – State County City Trade License Authority --or--
  • National Boiler Operator Grade III License – State County City Trade License Authority
  • 4 years of building control systems inspection, testing, repair and maintenance in a hospital environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Mechanical Systems, Building Control Technology, HVAC, or similar field

Pay Range: $43.07 – $47.07
