Job description

Journeyman Electrician with IRATA Rope Access (Nisku, AB; Conklin, AB; ...)

We are seeking a Journeyman Electrician who also holds an IRATA Rope Access Certification (any level) to support site operations at Foster Creek. This is a rotational position working 8 days on and 6 days off. The successful candidate must be comfortable working at heights and performing electrical work requiring rope access.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across the site.
  • Utilize rope access techniques to safely access and work in difficult-to-reach areas.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems.
  • Complete documentation and reporting accurately and on time.
  • Work while suspended in a harness for extended periods.
  • Descend, ascend, and transverse ropes for access and work while suspended by harness.
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding at heights.
  • Use arms and hands to reach, handle, and feel objects; coordinate hand-eye movements.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed.
  • Maintain footing on surfaces that may be slippery.

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Electrician Certification (Red Seal preferred).
  • IRATA Certification (Level 1, 2, or 3 accepted).
  • Valid CSTS/BSO and WHMIS certifications (or willingness to obtain prior to mobilization).
  • Strong commitment to safety and ability to work in high-risk environments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues, supervision, and clients.
  • Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and data to determine requirements.
  • H2S, IRATA, and CSTS are minimum safety ticket requirements.
  • Participation and completion of safety paperwork such as FLRA’s, Start Cards, Rescue & Rigging plans, etc.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing.
  • Physical fitness and comfort working at heights.

This is a turnaround position.
