Job summary

Providence Housing Authority is seeking a journeyman electrician to perform skilled electrical construction, maintenance and repair across its housing stock and properties. You will install wiring, fixtures, and safety devices, read diagrams, and ensure code compliance.

The role requires five years of journeyman experience, an RI license, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to lead others, work independently, plan work, and adapt to on-call schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Industrial arts/vocational training participation in crafts or trade apprenticeship training is required (or)
• Successfully completed Apprenticeship Training Program is required.
• 5 years of experience in basic and advanced electrical work at Journeyman level is required.
• 5 years of electrical maintenance/construction, repair or remodeling work is preferred.
• Experience in working in public housing setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled electrical construction, maintenance and repair on agency housing stock and properties.
• Install wiring systems, fixtures, controls, appliances and equipment; read blueprints and diagrams.
• Provide lead employee services and instruct less skilled coworkers.
• Ensure proper installation and safe operation of wiring circuits and lines; comply with safety codes.
• Read and interpret circuit diagrams, blueprints and repair manuals.
• Perform maintenance on alarms, data cabling and emergency systems.
