Overview

Journeyman Electrician – Data Center at Loenbro

Location: Cedar Rapids, IA

Reports To: Foreman / Superintendent

We are a leading, growing employer in the Mission Critical services space, focused on partnering with customers to deliver quality and service while putting employees and customers first.

Position Overview: The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for executing professional quality installations per current electrical codes. This role adheres to safety protocols and may work independently or as part of a team, installing, start-up, troubleshooting, commissioning, and servicing equipment and systems. Must be able to pass pre-employment and ongoing drug/alcohol testing.

Job Duties

• Serve existing accounts by analyzing work orders; planning daily travel; investigating complaints; conducting tests; resolving problems.
• Perform professional quality installations in accordance with current electrical codes and safety protocols; collaborate with project management onsite.
• Establish service by studying system requirements; ordering components; completing installation; performing acceptance tests.
• Maintain rapport with customers by examining complaints, identifying solutions, suggesting improvements, and recommending system enhancements.
• Keep personal equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and arranging repairs.
• Document service and installation actions through forms, reports, logs, and records.
• Maintain customer confidence by keeping service information confidential.
• Update job knowledge through educational opportunities and industry publications.
• Support operations and organization by completing related tasks as needed.
• Follow instructions from management and perform other related duties as assigned.
• Read and understand overview drawings, one-line drawings, and electrical schematics.
• Layout conduit, cable tray, and overall jobsite installations.
• Work with and train apprentices on the job.

Skills/Qualifications

• Licensed electrician.
• Experience in electrical and pneumatic process controls.
• 7-10+ years of experience in the electrical trade and completion of a successful apprenticeship.
• Ability to read blueprints, legend symbols, scale, branch circuits, one-line, and riser diagrams.
• Proficient with hydraulic benders; ability to trim out devices.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Dependable, willing to put in the hours needed; strong oral and written communication skills.
• Willing to submit to pre-employment screening (criminal background check and drug screen).
• Basic computer knowledge; 18 years of age or older.
• Willing to work outside typical hours; exposure to cold and hot temperatures; working at heights and in confined spaces as required.
• Climbing stairs and ladders; lifting up to 50 pounds as needed; respirator use if required.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability if driving is required; DMV background records check may apply.
• Ability to walk on uneven terrain, stand, sit, stoop, crawl, kneel; travel as needed.
