Job summary

Enterprise Electrical in Texas is seeking a Working Journeyman Electrician to perform skilled commercial electrical work on construction projects. You will interpret blueprints, install NEC-compliant systems, and lead apprentices to ensure quality and safety on site.

This role requires strong problem solving, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to teamwork. Preference for license journeyman or master electrician and familiarity with CenterPoint standards.

Qualifications

• Must read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics.
• Commitment to NEC-based installations and safety protocols.
• Ability to supervise apprentices and coordinate with team on site.

Responsibilities

• Work around high voltage equipment and general electrical gear.
• Install conduit systems per NEC standards and on blueprints.
• Cut, bend, and run conduit as specified by designs.
• Set up and maintain temporary power systems.
• Install and maintain grounding systems for equipment and structures.
• Install junction boxes, panels, switches, plugs, and fixtures.
• Terminate wires and cables to equipment with quality workmanship.
• Test components for proper voltage and continuity.
• Build electrical services and support service applications knowledge.
• Communicate with Supervisor/Foreman and work under guidance.
• Maintain safety, accuracy, and organization under pressure.

Job description

The Working Journeyman Electrician is responsible for performing skilled electrical work on commercial construction projects. This role combines expert hands-on installation with leadership in supporting apprentices and contributing to job-site efficiency. The ideal candidate is proficient in interpreting blueprints, installing electrical systems per NEC standards, and maintaining safety and quality on site

Responsibilities:

• Work on and around high voltage energized and general electrical equipment.
• Install various types of electrical conduit systems according to NEC standards.
• Cut, bend, and run conduit as specified on blueprints.
• Set up and maintain temporary power systems.
• Install and maintain grounding systems for all equipment and structures.
• Install junction boxes, panels, switches, plugs, and fixtures.
• Terminate wires and cables to electrical equipment, including breakers, control panels, and distribution systems, with technical understanding and quality craftsmanship.
• Test electrical components for continuity and proper voltage readings per specifications.
• Build out electrical services and demonstrate knowledge in service applications.
• Communicate and work under the direction of a Supervisor/Foreman (Licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician).
• Able to work well under pressure, especially when facing tight timelines, unexpected delays, or urgent tasks.
• Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
• Reliable, accountable, and consistent in performing assigned tasks.
• Safety-conscious and able to follow all instructed safety regulations.
• Detail-oriented and results-driven.
• Knowledgeable in the use of electrical tools and equipment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage administrative functions.

• Familiarity with CenterPoint standards preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Stamina – Ability to work long hours, frequently standing, bending, or kneeling for extended periods.
• Strength & Dexterity – Must lift 50+ lbs and have the upper body strength and manual dexterity to handle tools, wiring, and heavy materials.
• Flexibility – Capable of working in tight spaces, elevated areas, and awkward positions.
• Vision – Excellent vision, including color perception, to accurately identify wires and components.
• Coordination & Balance – Strong hand-eye coordination and balance for precise work on ladders, scaffolding, or elevated platforms.
• Other Requirements – Must be able to handle a physical workload, possess personal tools, and have reliable transportation.
