Job summary

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
• Three to four years electrical work experience, one year at journeyman level.
• Ability to read and interpret building plans and sketches.
• Knowledge of electrical principles, practices, methods and techniques.
• Knowledge of code requirements and safety procedures.
• Ability to use and maintain electrical tools and materials.
• Ability to learn the specific codes and regulatory provisions governing electrical work in the County.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and tests item, wiring circuits and other components to determine source of problem.
• Services, repairs, replaces, tests and operates high and low voltage motor controls, transformers and related equipment.
• Reads building plans and drawings for installation work requirements.
• Prepares area for work, runs cables, splices wires, and installs fixtures and switches.
• Coordinates schedule for job performance with other personnel and contractors.
• Keeps records of jobs performed and materials used.
• Instructs and oversees the work of other personnel providing assistance with jobs.
• Performs other work as assigned.
