Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, repair, and minor installation of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Maintain distribution panels, breakers, disconnects, transformers, receptacles, lighting, motors, starters, controls, and related components.
  • Support emergency power systems, generators, ATS, UPS, and other critical electrical infrastructure.
  • Apply lockout/tagout and electrical safe-work practices per OSHA, NFPA 70E, EM 385-1-1, site procedures, and codes.
  • Coordinate outages affecting patient care with site management and Government representatives.
  • Complete PM/CM documentation, inspection records, test results, deficiency reports, and required maintenance records.
  • Immediately report unsafe or noncompliant electrical conditions.

Job description

Position Summary
Provides journeyman-level electrical operations and maintenance support for the medical treatment facility, including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, repair, and minor installation of electrical systems and equipment. The employee must perform all assigned work in compliance with the Northeast OMEE PWS, applicable federal/state/local law, installation requirements, safety requirements, and manufacturer instructions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, repair, and minor installation of facility electrical systems and equipment.
  • Maintain distribution panels, breakers, disconnects, transformers, receptacles, lighting, motors, starters, controls, and associated electrical components.
  • Support emergency power systems, generators, automatic transfer switches, UPS equipment, and other critical electrical infrastructure within assigned qualifications.
  • Apply lockout/tagout and electrical safe-work practices in accordance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, EM 385-1-1, site procedures, and applicable codes.
  • Coordinate outages and work affecting patient care, clinical operations, life-safety systems, or mission-critical areas with site management and Government representatives.
  • Complete PM/CM work documentation, inspection records, test results, deficiency reports, and other required Government maintenance records within required timelines.
  • Immediately report unsafe, noncompliant, degraded, or mission-impacting electrical conditions.
Required Qualifications and Credentials
  • Minimum three (3) years of electrical maintenance experience in healthcare facilities.
  • Documented journeyman-level electrical qualification meeting PWS §1.5.7.1.
  • REQUIRED: New Jersey Qualified Journeyman Electrician registration, or other current New Jersey credential legally authorizing the employee to perform the assigned electrical work.
  • REQUIRED: Work must be performed within the properly licensed New Jersey electrical contractor/business permit structure applicable to the employer and assigned work.
  • Required knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout, and electrical safe-work practices.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet installation/base access requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, technical instructions, and safety procedures appropriate to the position.
  • Ability to work in an occupied healthcare environment and follow infection-prevention, life-safety, utility-outage, and patient-care coordination requirements.
  • Ability to respond to emergency maintenance conditions and perform after-hours/on-call support when assigned.
  • Must maintain all licenses, certifications, permits, training, and qualifications required for assigned duties throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Military medical facility or hospital O&M experience.
  • Experience with emergency power, generators, ATS, UPS, life-safety and critical electrical systems.
  • Current NFPA 70E training and documented electrical safety/LOTO training.
Licensing and Qualification Compliance
Employee shall maintain all professional licenses, certifications, permits, training, and qualifications required by the Northeast OMEE Performance Work Statement and applicable federal, state, and local laws throughout employment. The employee shall provide copies of applicable credentials upon request. Assignment to this position does not authorize the employee to perform work requiring a separate trade, specialty, environmental, safety, OEM, or state license unless the employee possesses the applicable credential. Where state law requires work to be performed under a licensed contractor, master licensee, bona fide representative, or other licensed supervisor, the employee shall perform such work only within that compliant structure.
Physical / Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to perform maintenance work in mechanical/electrical rooms, rooftops, interstitial spaces, ladders, and other facility areas consistent with job duties.
  • Ability to lift/carry tools and materials and perform standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, and other physical activities commonly associated with facility maintenance.
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment and comply with site-specific safety and occupational health requirements.
  • Reasonable accommodations will be considered consistent with applicable law.
Contract and Regulatory References
  • Northeast OMEE PWS §1.5.7 requires the contractor to ensure personnel possess all applicable current and valid professional certifications and licenses required by federal, state, and local law. Journeymen, craftsmen, and tradespersons must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in healthcare facilities. Applicable credentials must be kept current throughout the task order and provided to the COR immediately upon request.
  • For trades not otherwise specifically cited, PWS §1.5.7.1 permits qualification to be demonstrated by a recognized journeyman card/state certification, a current or lapsed state contractor license for the trade, evidence of passing an ICC national journeyman or master examination, a nationally recognized certification program, or documented military journeyman-level or higher experience on a DD214.
