Job summary

Legends Global is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to maintain and repair all electrical equipment in the venues, including DeVos Place and DeVos Performance Hall. You will troubleshoot issues, install and service motors and panels, and ensure lighting and electrical systems operate reliably for events.

The role requires a Michigan Journeyman license, OSHA knowledge, and prior maintenance electrical experience. On-site, with night/weekend shifts as needed, and opportunities to mentor apprentices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Proven work experience as a maintenance electrician.
• Valid State of Michigan Journeyman Electrician License.
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements.
• Ability to size wiring and calculate loads.
• Experience with electrical controls and panels.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot all electrical malfunctions and repair inoperable equipment.
• Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules for electrical systems.
• Install, repair and modify electrical motors, panels, and wiring.
• Train and oversee apprentice electricians.

THE ROLE

Under general supervision, perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks to repair and maintain all electrical equipment in and around the building.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot all electrical malfunctions.
• Repair all inoperable electrical equipment and circuits.
• Troubleshoot electrical and control wiring.
• Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedule for all electrical machinery, equipment and wiring.
• Install, repair and modify electrical motors and panels.
• Keep all facility interior and exterior lighting in proper working order.
• Prepare and repair electrical fixtures and sockets to run required wires for computer hook-ups.
• Test backup generator system and coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs with service company.
• Advise the facility of all problems related to the electrical systems.
• Report any event caused damage to supervisor.
• Maintain, order and pick-up adequate spare parts and supplies.
• Advise construction contractors, promoters, event coordinators and others on event’s electrical requirements.
• Must know and use OSHA requirements.
• Train and oversee apprentice electricians.
• Help plan and run power for the various types of shows.

Skills and Abilities

• Possess thorough understanding of the operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility.
• Demonstrate proper knowledge and use of all procedures, techniques, machines, materials, equipment and tools used in electrical construction and maintenance.
• Understand and work from general instructions, specifications, blueprints, sketches and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Possess any licenses, certificates or training required by local, state or national authorities for the operation of the equipment found in the facility.
• Be able to size wiring, calculate loads and install proper electrical devices.
• Knowledge of lockout and tag procedures on panels and electrical equipment.
• Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
• Knowledge of HVAC equipment and the associated BMS system is preferred.
• Understanding computers and the use of MS Office and Outlook.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED.
• Proven work experience as a Maintenance Electrician.
• Familiarity with industrial electrical systems and the National Electrical Code.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

• State of Michigan Journeyman Electrician License.
