Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8,000 documented hours of OJT or a state journeyman license.
  • Ability to read/interpret electrical drawings required.
  • Proficiency with NEC-compliant installations: raceways, conductors, terminations, grounding/bonding.
  • Proficiency with electrical test instruments (e.g., multimeter, megohmmeter) and safe practices (PPE, LOTO, JSA).
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to operate lifts/forklifts (certifications a plus).
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction card required. First Aid/CPR Certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, and schedules; verify material, raceway sizes, and conductor types.
  • Install raceways, bend and thread conduit, mount boxes/panels, and pull/terminate conductors to spec.
  • Perform terminations on panels, equipment, and devices; torque to manufacturer specs and label per project standards.
  • Apply NEC requirements for grounding/bonding, conductor ampacity, overcurrent protection, and working clearances.
  • Perform functional checks and electrical testing (e.g., continuity, insulation resistance, voltage) with appropriate instruments.
  • Complete daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA); use PPE; follow LOTO where applicable; maintain clean, orderly work areas.
  • Support quality control by self-inspecting work, correcting deficiencies, and participating in punch-list closeout.
  • Coordinate with foremen on sequencing, look-aheads, and material requests; provide input to RFIs when needed.
  • Mentor apprentices on safety, workmanship, tool use, and code-compliant installation practices.

Job description

1) Purpose of Role

Install, terminate, and test electrical systems in accordance with drawings, specifications, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and GTI safety and quality standards. Deliver safe, on‑time, and code‑compliant work while supporting crew productivity and mentoring apprentices.

2) Scope & Decision Rights
  • Plan and execute assigned installations, terminations, and tests per prints, RFIs, and supervisor direction.
  • Identify code/safety risks and escape; recommend field adjustments that maintain scope, schedule, and quality.
  • Document work in company systems (e.g., daily JSA notes, basic Procore logs) in alignment with foreman guidance.
