ONE Gas is seeking candidates for its Journey Gas Worker Program in Kansas. This structured 12-24 month training program prepares new field employees through on-the-job experience to safely perform duties in gas distribution, field service, and gas operations.

The program emphasizes safety, hands-on learning, and quick readiness for performing tasks like main line installation, leaks investigation, and customer assistance on site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Class A CDL or ability to obtain CDL during 180-day probationary period.
• Ability to perform essential physical functions and work shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime in emergencies.
• Must process information in an organized, timely and accurate manner.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company equipment.
• Perform general construction labor for main lines, service renewals, and line replacement.
• Troubleshoot and investigate gas leaks.
• Respond to gas leaks as first responders to protect people.
• Inspect gas appliances and perform re-lights.
• Communicate company policies and assist customers on site.

Job Description

Our Journey Gas Worker Program is a structured 12-24 month training program designed to provide new field employees with sufficient training and on-the-job work experience to prepare the employee to properly and safely complete their job duties.

Responsibilities

The program consists of gas distribution, field service, and gas operations while focusing on safety, including excavation, fire extinguishers, hazard communication, respiratory protection, personal protective equipment training, and safe vehicle operation.

Functions of this job will include, but are not limited to:

• Safely operating company equipment


• Ability to perform general construction labor related to installation of main lines, service renewals, and line replacement


• Troubleshooting and investigating gas leaks


• First responder to leaks - reacting immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others


• Examining and inspecting gas appliances and performing re-lights


• Accurately communicating company policies and procedures and assisting customers with inquiries while on site

Required Experience

• The successful candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and a class A CDL or the ability to obtain a class A CDL during the 180-day probationary period.


• Candidates must be able to perform the essential physical functions of the job and operate within a short time frame as needed. Must be able to recognize consequences of erroneous actions, concentrate on tasks, and apply procedures.


• The successful candidate must have the ability to process information in an organized, timely and accurate manner.


• The successful candidate must have the ability to work shift work, weekends, holidays, and overtime in emergency situations.

Qualifications

• Must be able to respond to our service center within a 30-minute time frame.


• Overtime will be required during peak seasons and on business need, as well as callout on a rotating basis.


• Preferred Experience:




• Gas industry


• Construction environment


• Working knowledge of operating safety procedures and regulations, such as OSHA and Pipeline Safety


• Plumbing, Electrical, or Cable experience
