Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. is seeking a skilled drafter to read BOMs, structural and erection drawings, and produce accurate shop orders for production.

You will enter data, design open web joists and decking in a proprietary program, prepare orders, check designs, and manage multiple projects to meet schedules in a fast-paced environment. The role requires strong teamwork and willingness to work overtime during busy seasons.

Qualifications

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Basic understanding in geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to visualize how elements fit together in 3D when working with 2D drawings.
• Willingness to go beyond typical duties to assist co-workers and customers.
• Willing and able to work 50+ hours/week during busy seasons.
• Prior experience in the steel joist industry is a plus.
• Design related degree with knowledge of statics and materials is a plus.
