Job summary

Mount Holyoke College invites applications for a joint tenure-track Assistant Professor of Italian specializing in Medieval, Renaissance, and/or Early Modern Studies, starting July 1, 2027. The successful candidate will teach four courses per year, split between Mount Holyoke and Smith College.

Candidates should demonstrate strong teaching at the undergraduate level, a research program, and a commitment to mentoring a diverse student body; the ability to teach in Italian and English is essential.

Qualifications

• PhD in Italian or related field or ABD status by start date.
• Experience teaching undergraduate students at a college level.
• Ability to teach both in Italian and in English.
• Commitment to mentoring a diverse student body.
• Strong record of teaching and research.

Responsibilities

• Teach four courses per year, split between Mount Holyoke and Smith.
• Teach language, culture, and literature with interdisciplinary appeal.
