Job summary

Ford Motor in Ohio is seeking a skilled Welding Engineer to lead joining activities for new model launches and ensure high weld quality across production lines.

You will apply welding process knowledge, develop control plans, and drive corrective actions with cross-functional teams. An Associate's degree and MS Office experience are required, with familiarity in Bosch controllers and automation tools like Kuka or Rockwell.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical or welding engineering.
• 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Knowledge of Mechanical Joining, AC/DC, resistance spot welding, sealers and adhesives.

Responsibilities

• Lead welding and sealing quality processes per Ford control plan.
• Develop weld control plans and enforce requirements.
• Lead weld inspection team and drive corrective actions (8D, 6‑panel).
• Identify variation sources and support cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
• Work across shifts, including weekends.

Responsibilities

In this position...

You will maintain a high weld and sealing quality process, by following the Ford control plan. When it comes to our best-in-class welding operations, your expertise is what will literally hold things together. That’s because we’re relying on you to lead the joining activities for a variety of assigned new model launches. You will:

• Assess joining feasibility through Global Product Development System milestones.
• Apply knowledge of welding processes, procedures, equipment, and evaluation techniques to deliver weld quality objectives.
• Implement weld certification strategy during launch and product or process change events.
• Lead weld inspection team.
• Develop weld control plans and enforce requirements.
• Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.
• Implement interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using 8D tool, 6-panel, etc.
• Identify sources of variation within a production environment effectively and efficiently.
• Support expedited concern resolution with multi-functional teams including the Quality Dept, Production, and Suppliers.
• Review incoming quality concerns to maintain quality within Body Area and initiate containment as vital, resolving root cause and implementing corrective actions.
• Ability to work any shift, as well as rotating shifts and weekends.

Qualifications

You'll have...

• Associate's degree in mechanical, Electrical or Weld engineering related degree; or a combination of equivalent experience and education.
• One or more years' experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
• Knowledge of Mechanical Joining, AC/DC, Resistance spot welding, sealers and adhesive

• 2-3 years of supervisor experience
• Weld Certification
• Previous experience within a high-volume production facility.
• Previous automotive, welding engineering and quality analysis experience.
• Experience with Bosch controllers.
• Experience with Kuka or Rockwell automation.
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills
• Outstanding interpersonal and team building skills

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $74,300-$124,500.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900.

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
