Job summary

TRU LAND Equipment is seeking an experienced Equipment Technician to diagnose and repair John Deere agricultural and turf equipment. The role will involve shop and field work, using diagnostic tools, and maintaining equipment inventory.

You will participate in ongoing training, mentor apprentices, and ensure safety and quality standards while delivering timely service in a fast-paced environment at our Indiana locations.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree preferred.
3+ years of experience performing service repairs preferred; demonstrated metrics-driven performance.
Ability to perform repairs and maintenance using tools following manuals with limited re-work.
Experience with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on off-road or heavy equipment.
Experience with diagnostic tools and basic computer functions.

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostics and repairs on John Deere agricultural equipment; may service competitive equipment.
Diagnosis and repair primarily at the shop, and in the field as required.
Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment needed for job responsibilities.
Participate in John Deere University and dealer training to grow skills.
Maintain knowledge of John Deere products and standards; mentor apprentices as requested.
Complete reports and track materials used; manage time and work orders.
Follow safety rules and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Other duties as assigned by management.

Purpose

Independently performs diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment. May require some direction or guidance from the Location Service Management team.

Responsibilities

Performs diagnostics and repairs on John Deere agricultural equipment and technology. May perform diagnostics and repairs on competitive equipment.
Performs diagnosis and repair, primarily at the shop, and in the field as required.
Operates and maintains vehicles, tools, and equipment required to perform job responsibilities.
Participates in John Deere University training and dealer-led training to further the development of skills and knowledge.
Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
Meets the John Deere requirements for an Advanced Service Technician.
Mentors Service Technician Apprentices and Students as requested.
May conduct or support customer clinics.
Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion.
Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders.
Responsible for tracking all materials used in performing assigned duties.
Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments in a timely manner.
Other appropriate responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge

High School Diploma or equivalent experience required, Associates degree preferred.
3+ years of experience performing service repairs preferred; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred.
Ability to perform repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures with limited re-work or customer dissatisfaction.
Experience with the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in off-road, construction, lawn, or heavy equipment.
Ability to operate vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
Experience with basic computer functions; experience using Service ADVISOR™ or other computer-based diagnostic repair tools preferred.
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
Valid driver's license required; CDL (Commercial Driver's License) and forklift license preferred.

Additional Requirements

Ability to lift 75 pounds repeatedly.
Adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities required.
Driving record that meets Employer's insurance company requirements.
