Job summary

OmniSource is seeking a Maintenance Technician to inspect, repair, and maintain machinery focused on the auto shredder operation. You will regularly inspect shredder components, perform scheduled maintenance, troubleshoot malfunctions, and respond to emergencies to minimize downtime.

Qualified candidates will understand schematics, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding and fabrication, and be able to operate maintenance vehicles safely.

Qualifications

• Ability to read schematics, hydraulics, pneumatics and blueprints.
• Experience maintaining heavy-duty industrial equipment, preferably shredders.
• Experience operating maintenance vehicles and equipment safely.
• Proficient in electrical repairs and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Inspect shredder components for wear; lubricate parts and check hydraulic systems.
• Perform scheduled maintenance per manufacturer guidelines.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
• React to emergency breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and replace worn parts; repair hydraulic leaks.
• Assist with installation of utilities and equipment.

Overview

An Omni Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining machinery, equipment and systems to ensure efficient operation. This specific position will work primarily on the auto shredder operation.

Responsibilities

• Regularly inspect shredder components like hammers, grates and liners for wear and tear, lubricate moving parts, check hydraulic systems.
• Perform scheduled maintenance tasks according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
• React to emergency breakdowns.
• Diagnose mechanical issues with the shredder, identify faulty components, replace worn parts, repair hydraulic leaks, and address malfunctions to minimize downtime.
• Assist with installation of utilities and equipment.
• Adhere to all safety protocols when working around the shredder, including the use of proper personal protective equipment and follow lockout/tagout procedures.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Proficient in comprehending schematics, hydraulics, and pneumatic diagrams, mechanical blueprints, welding, and fabricating skills.
• Ability to analyze issues, troubleshoot malfunctions, and find effective solutions.
• Prior experience maintaining industrial machinery, preferably shredders or similar heavy‑duty equipment.
• Must be able to operate maintenance vehicles and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Experience in three phase and single phase electrical repairs.
• Must be able to perform general electrical repairs.
• Ability to perform basic welding and fabrication tasks to repair components as needed.
• Must be able to arc weld with stick and mig abilities.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs without direct supervision.
• Must have working understanding of programmable logistic controllers.
• Ability to thoroughly inspect equipment and identify potential problems before they become major issues.
• Commit to safety practices and follow safety regulations related to operating heavy machinery.

Preferred:

• 3-5 years industrial maintenance experience.

Wage:

• Up to $23.00 base per hour
