Job summary

The Pictsweet Company is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Technician to operate, troubleshoot, and repair ammonia refrigeration systems in our Texas facilities. The role requires adherence to SOPs and industrial safety standards, while maintaining equipment performance and safety.

Responsibilities include operating compressors and auxiliaries, maintaining boilers and water treatment, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring accurate log records.

Qualifications

• 3 years industrial experience operating anhydrous ammonia refrigeration systems.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, signs, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.
• Willing to work 12-hour shifts, 6–7 days a week including weekends and holidays.
• Hazmat responder eligibility and ability to pass a pulmonary test.

Responsibilities

• Operate ammonia refrigeration system compressors, defrosts, condensers, evaporators, pumps, valves and motors.
• Maintain boilers, steam equipment and water treatment system.
• Repair valves, fans, pumps, conveyors, air compressors and related components.
• Monitor gauges, temperatures, pressures and related readings.
• Perform preventive maintenance per the Process Safety Management program.
• Log readings and keep records of pressures and temperatures.
• Follow safety guidelines and wear PPE.
• Keep work areas clean, neat and organized.
• Collaborate with other departments.

Overview

The Pictsweet Companyis looking for experienced Refrigeration Technicians. The qualified candidate must be able to operate, trouble-shooting, and repairing of ammonia refrigeration system equipment/machinery as per the Standard Operating Procedures and other approved industrial standards.

Responsibilities

• Operates the refrigeration system compressors, defrosts systems, condensers, evaporators, pumps, valves, motors and other controls as needed.
• Operates and maintains the facility steam boilers, auxiliary steam equipment and water treatment system.
• Repairs valves, fans, pumps, conveyor belts, air compressors, water systems, boiler systems and other related components as needed.
• Operates the systems by observations of gauges, instrumentation, liquid levels, temperatures, and pressure systems as needed.
• Repairs and replaces refrigeration components as needed.
• Logs and keeps records of pressures, temperatures, gas and water meter readings as needed.
• Performs Preventive Maintenance on all related refrigeration equipment as requested and required by the Process Safety Management program.
• Operates the ammonia refrigeration system in a safe manner as required by the Process Safety Management Program.
• Follows all safety guidelines set forth by the Company.
• Maintains work areas clean, neat and organized.
• Assists other departments.
• Will don personal protective equipment (PPE) before commencing work
• Must be able to pass a pulmanry test, and be a responder on the HAZMAT team.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

• Vocational training a plus

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years industrial experience operating refrigeration anhydrous ammoniaunit.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules/signs, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.

OTHER:

• Must be able to work 12 hr. shifts, 6 – 7 days a week (including weekends and holidays)
• Must be able to work rotating shifts.
• Knowledge in safely using power tools, hand tools, and other tools related to the operation of ammonia refrigeration.
