Job summary

Walden Behavioral Care in Dedham, MA seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for day, evening, or night shifts. Compensation includes a $2,500 sign-on bonus for part-time positions and hourly pay between $33.75 and $46.70 depending on experience.

Work involves administering medications under supervision and collaborating with a nursing team. Responsibilities include ensuring quality nursing care, documenting in MAR, and supporting patient education and safety in a fast-paced behavioral health

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for the quality of nursing care provided to patients, including maintaining optimal patient health, teaching, counseling, and planning.
• Incorporate knowledge of patient rights, mission, vision, and values into nursing practice.
• Act as patient advocate and assist patients in developing self-advocacy skills.
• Document all appropriate patient information in a timely manner.
• Assess vital signs and report abnormalities to the physician.
• Provide nursing care demonstrating sound clinical judgment and competency.
• Participate in community meetings and group therapies when assigned.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, family, and staff.
• Provide ongoing patient/family education relative to each patient.
• Accurately transcribe medication and treatment orders and maintain MAR.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments using correct methods.

The Licensed Practical Nurse administers medications under the supervision of the charge nurse, nurse manager, or nursing supervisor. They can administer care under this direction with the exclusion of doing nursing assessments or admissions.

Day shift: 7:00am-3:30pm

Evening shift: 3:00pm-11:30pm

Night shift: 11:00pm-7:30am

Pay: $33.75-46.70/hour depending on experience

Responsibilities Include:

• Practice within the general policies, philosophy, and objectives of the Department of Nursing and the hospital.
• Provide nursing care in a therapeutically effective manner demonstrating sound clinical and professional judgment and competency.
• Participate in community meetings and group therapies when assigned.
• Assess unit milieu and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, family members and staff.
• Provide ongoing patient/family education relative to each patient.
• Accurately transcribe medication and treatment orders and maintain medication administration record (MAR).
• Accurately and safely administer prescribed medications and treatments to patients using correct methods of administration.
• Evaluate and document patient response to medication regimen and identify needs to administer PRN medication and document effectively.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited school for Practical Nursing.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a hospital setting

Licensure/Certification:

• Massachusetts LPN license.
• CPR, Required.

Knowledge:

• Must possess knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting, behavior and crisis management
