Job summary

La-Z-Boy Incorporated is seeking a hands-on Upholstery Associate in Dayton, TN. The role involves building high-quality upholstered furniture on a busy production line, using staple guns, air tools and hand tools, while maintaining safety and efficiency standards.

You will work in a team-driven environment, rotate through cells, and support framing, cushioning, final assembly and packaging to meet daily goals. Strong manual skills and the ability to stand for long periods are required.

Qualifications

• Equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the above duties.
• Basic reading and writing skills.
• Completion of in-house training curriculum.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Upholster furniture components following notes and specs.
• Assemble components in frames using staple guns and air tools.
• Package finished units and prepare for shipping.
• Coordinate workflow within the cell and manage tickets.

Drive, urgency, and self-motivation are needed to meet daily production goals. The role requires standing for long periods, lifting and moving at least 50 lbs, and using hands to grip, pull, and handle materials. Comfort with power tools, framing, and staple guns is essential.Job Description:JOB RESPONSIBILITIESWork in a team atmospherePerform any position within the cell as neededProper use of Kan Ban containersUpholster:Knock down all sharp corners of frameUse of staple gun to staple materialsUse of hammer to insert tack strip, panels, etcUse of staple puller to retract improper staplesUse of additional air tools to assemble components as necessary (drill, hog ring gun, hot glue gun, etc.)Ability to assemble furniture components by upholstery notes within specificationsFrame:Use of frame gun to staple materialsProper glue and/or wax application per specificationUse of additional air tools to assemble components as necessary (drill, crimping gun, chisel tool, etc)Use of glue scraper for proper clean upCushion Process:Validate unit cover to ticket in each batchCoordinate work flow in cellInsert stuffing materials into cover componentsUse of machine to seal and quiltUse of staple gun to staple materialsFinal Assembly:Assemble components into completed unitUse of staple gun to staple materialsUse of additional air tools to assemble components as necessary (drill, tack gun, etc)Oil mechanism as required by specificationScan ticket to show unit completePackaging:Use of staple gun to staple materialsUse of additional air tools to assemble components as necessary (drill, frame gun, crimp gun, etc)Use of banding and up ender equipmentUse of tape gun to properly secure packaging materialsApply ticket to finished package in proper locationMove unit to alternate location as neededJOB REQUIREMENTS:Equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the above dutiesBasic reading and writing skillsCompletion of in-house training curriculumBasic computer skillsStrong coordination for routine, repetitive tasksAbility to stand for up to 10 hours per day with frequent bending, twisting, and reachingCapacity to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50 lbsSkilled use of hands for gripping, pulling, and tuggingSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: NonePHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:Strong coordination for routine, repetitive tasks.
