Job summary

Mobis Alabama LLC is seeking a Cost Accounting Assistant Manager to oversee SAP CO data, monitor manufacturing costs, and deliver analysis for budgeting, cost allocation, and month-end close.

You will support cost and profitability analysis, coordinate audits, and work with finance and operations to drive cost reduction and accuracy. A Bachelor's in accounting and 4+ years in cost/manufacturing accounting are required; automotive experience preferred.

Overview

The Cost Accounting Assistant Manager supports timely, accurate, and compliant cost accounting processes by maintaining cost data in SAP CO, monitoring manufacturing and departmental costs, and preparing analysis that supports budget control, cost allocation, month-end and year-end close, and product profitability reporting.This role assists the Cost Accounting Manager, HOD, and CFO by producing reliable cost information, identifying cost drivers and variances, coordinating required closing support, and escalating issues that may affect financial accuracy, compliance, or decision-making.

Responsibilities

This role operates within defined corporate policies and procedures and exercises judgment appropriate to its level of responsibility. The position may influence decisions related to functional operations, processes, or recommendations and escalate matters as required

Budgeting and Planning:

• Provide accurate cost, expense, and operational data to support annual budgeting, forecasting, and planning cycles.

Cost and Expense Control:

• Maintain SAP CO cost information and monitor manufacturing and departmental costs to support accurate cost allocation, expense control, and timely issue escalation.

Month- and Year-End Closing:

• Support month-end and year-end close activities by preparing cost accounting schedules, reviewing cost-related entries, and coordinating audit support with internal stakeholders and external auditors.

Cost and Profitability Analysis:

• Analyze production costs, expense trends, cost drivers, and budget variances in coordination with related departments to support cost reduction initiatives and product-level profitability analysis.

• Perform other cost accounting, planning, reporting, and compliance-related duties as assigned and consistent with the role’s scope.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• SAP experience required.
• Knowledge of applicable bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, and standards

• High attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Education & Experience:

• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including cost accounting or manufacturing accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of cost accounting principles, manufacturing accounting, and financial reporting processes.
• Automotive or manufacturing industry experience preferred.
