We are also a teaching practice, offering structured mentorship to develop hands‑on skills and clinical reasoning. Our focus is on evidence‑based care, emphasizing active recovery and movement‑based rehabilitation.

We are seeking a passionate Staff Physical Therapy Assistant to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a new graduate or a therapist with up to one year of experience who has a strong interest in manual therapy and strength training as part of their treatment approach. The position starts part‑time with the potential to grow into a full‑time role as the practice expands.

As an orthopedic physical therapist at Jay West Physical Therapy, INC you continually strive for excellence, enjoy collaborating with co‑workers, and will be part of a growing team that in the future will include physical therapy students, physical therapy assistants and other physical therapists. This practice is located inside of a local fitness studio, CRUfit, which has been a part of the Montclair Village community for over 10 years with experienced personal trainers and instructors that are well versed in competitive cycling, rowing, and functional fitness.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high quality patient care physical therapy services to patients with sports injuries and orthopedic conditions.
  • Perform direct patient care, including evaluation of muscle, skeletal, neurological, and other physical problems and develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
  • Utilize a variety of interventions such as manual therapy, exercise, and education.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in physical therapy through delivery of in‑services and orthopedic related seminars.
  • Support and encourage multidisciplinary coordination of treatment.
  • Ensure proper documentation of patient care.
  • Maintain professional standards through compliance with quality assurance policies/procedures as well as applicable regulations and corporate policies.
  • Implement effective communication with corporate staff including assistants, interns, and administrators, medical staff of other offices, and patients to ensure coordinated efforts and provision of high quality service and optimal patient care.
  • Demonstrate effective problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution abilities.
  • Inform Owner/Administrators of departmental problems, needs and solutions in a timely manner.
  • Plan, design, implement and interpret specific physical therapy treatment programs for patients to facilitate the patient’s recovery and attainment of maximum physical potential.
  • Educate patients in the proper care and use of supports and performance of exercise programs.
  • Perform or delegate patient treatments to Physical therapy students and Physical therapy assistants to include modalities, therapeutic exercises, gait training and therapeutic activities as indicated.
  • Follow appropriate documentation and reporting procedures.
  • Learn how to secure prescriptions/referrals and appropriate authorization for each patient treated.
  • Work closely with the physician to ensure comprehensive delivery of services and quality patient care.
  • Assist social media manager marketer with items to help promote your services including biographic information, specialities, and participating in social media campaigns.
  • Take all necessary precautions to protect center assets and property against loss or waste through negligence or dishonesty.
  • Participate in professional development by attending center meetings and outside educational seminars.
  • Accept physical therapy students to assist in their development through mentorship and supervision of patient care and providing timely feedback to them.
  • Communicate regarding the patients’ objective progress, compliance with the program, compliance with attendance of scheduled appointments, and the therapist’s estimated time frame until discharged from therapy.
  • Participate in clinical instruction of university physical therapy and/or physical therapist assistant students.
  • Participate with the evaluation of the effectiveness of the rehabilitation quality management process and assist in new and improved processes.
  • Ensure compliance with rules and regulations established by the relevant licensing, certification and accreditation bodies.
Functions
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs from floor to waist for up to 10ft independently to arrange equipment for clients.
  • Must be able to jog, run, jump, squat, hinge, lunge, push, and pull using the upper body to demonstrate exercises for clients.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 1 hour unassisted.
  • Must be able to sit for up to 1 hour unassisted.

Requirements
  • Minimum 0-1 year previous orthopedic and/or sports experience preferred.
  • A candidate with desire to acquire strong manual therapy and therapeutic exercise skills including strength and sport specific training preferred.
  • Active CA physical therapy licensure or PTLA required.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required. Completion and diploma from a Physical Therapy Assistant accredited institution required.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative and clinical skills.
  • Experience working with Workers Compensation & Medicare patients preferred.
