Job summary

Monroe Township in New Jersey is seeking a part-time Truck Driver to operate a single-axle truck and support public works operations. Shifts are up to 24 hours per week with duties including loading, transporting, and snow removal.

The role requires a NJ license and CDL as needed, with at least 1 year of single-axle experience and residency preferred. Other related public works tasks may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
• Possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) as required for the position.
• Have at least one (1) year of experience operating a single-axle truck.
• Be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Residency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive a single-axle truck to transport nonhazardous materials.
• Picks up, loads, transports, and delivers materials; performs related duties.
• May be assigned other driver and laborer duties within the Department of Public Works.
• Receives assignments and operates trucks and equipment.
• Operate snow removal equipment to support road clearance.
• May assist with repair/installation of snowplows and salt spreaders.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on trucks and equipment.
• Maintain logs and keep garage clean; ensures records of trips.

Hours: Up to 24 hours per week, Monday-Friday, can vary based on operational needs

Salary: Truck Driver: $25.47 per hour / Truck Driver with CDL A: $26.26 per hour

Rates are subject to change based upon contract ratifications.

• Under direction, drives a truck with a single axle to transport nonhazardous materials. Picks up, loads, transports, and delivers materials of varied types; does other related work.
• Truck Driver may also be assigned other driver and laborer duties within the Department of Public Works.
• Receives written and/or oral assignments and operates trucks and other equipment of varied types.
• Operates snow removal equipment to assist in keeping roads clear. May assist with the repair and installation of snowplows, spreaders, and other snow and ice control equipment and perform related ice control work.
• Performs minor repairs and adjustments to trucks and equipment. Supplies trucks with gasoline, oil, and water; keeps the garage clean and orderly; and maintains records of trips and other required activities.
• Checks, cleans, greases, washes, and performs required adjustments and routine maintenance on trucks and other auxiliary equipment.
• When not engaged in driving a truck or operating other equipment, may perform other Public Works duties, including road and landscape construction, building maintenance and repair, groundskeeping, laboring, and other related or unskilled work.
