Senior Software Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

An opportunity for a motivated Senior DevOps Infrastructure Engineer with a passion for leading implementation of resilient solutions, standards, and collaborative technologies. You will work alongside other top-notch IT professionals supporting modern information technology infrastructure across both public and private clouds. You will be a part of a global team responsible for the delivery and management of consumable technologies, processes, and integrations to bolster lines of business and their respective client solutions. Outside of your team, you will collaborate with Developers, IT Architects, line-of-business (LOB) professionals as well as other IT specialists to provision, automate and streamline IT business operations and processes. You will be challenged to create innovative solutions within public and private cloud environments, as well as lead the creation of processes, services, and continued process improvement. You will demonstrate and maintain high quality deliverables while fostering a proactive, efficient, and service-oriented work environment. Communication and professionalism are paramount as you will represent Technical Services to effectively engage with technical and business leadership and external IT service providers. You will also use all your abilities to explain solutions and complex issues at multiple levels while mentoring fellow teammates and fostering their development and understanding.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Develops and implements technical standards, procedures, and techniques for the resolution of Enterprise IT system problems to ensure maximum application availability and performance. Develop proof of concepts architecture for application and automation initiatives. Drives troubleshooting efforts and implements innovative solutions for issue elimination. Engages with other engineering teams to improve the lifecycle of services on our platforms. Collaborates with other IT and non-IT related professionals such as Developers, Architects, Project Managers, Business Analysts, and business leaders. Actively mentors and peer reviews more junior team members and their service delivery. Acts as point of escalation within team for challenging issues or development activities. Work on the operationalization of new technologies such as machine learning and AI.
• Implements resource provisioning and management utilizing Infrastructure as Code across public and private cloud infrastructure with a parallel goal of continuous process improvement. Automates and accelerates the testing, release, and deployment cycles through authored scripts for configuration and provisioning of microservices and related resources. Develops and employs continuous delivery system practices for development teams via cloud services and private infrastructure. Create, execute, and automate CICD pipelines for various development projects using a core suite of libraries and tools. Monitors, scales, and optimizes distributed services in both public and private clouds. Integrates closely with enterprise solution development teams on identifying, problem solving and resolving issues that impact software releases and service delivery.
• Leads direct support of enterprise infrastructure including public and private cloud computing solutions (both IaaS and PaaS offerings), Kubernetes microservice deployment, Enterprise service integrations, cross environment network access and troubleshooting, identity management and rights assignment. Configures and integrates custom developed and 3rd party applications, integrations, and add-ons. Regular review of alerts, logs, and performance of deployed resources. Works with end-users, Microsoft Support, and other vendors in resolution of support issues as part of a Level 3 Support team
• Participates in scheduled and unscheduled weekend/after-hours system maintenance and support. Performs rotational on-call duty.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

· Management of Public Cloud Offerings across Azure and AWS (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS, O365, ADO (Azure DevOps), Kubernetes Microservices)

· Ability to use and implement automation tools, scripting, and processes.

· Scripting Skills (PowerShell, Terraform, and other Infrastructure as Code languages)

· Microsoft Windows and Linux Server Administration (RHEL, Debian, and SUSE included)

· Troubleshooting of complex distributed environments across multiple clouds and platforms

· In depth performance tuning expertise across multiple resource types

· Ability to assist Development efforts in Microservice development, integration and release

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

· Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, equivalent work history/experience or working towards achieving a degree
