Job summary

Easterseals Iowa is seeking a Job Developer to support adults with developmental disabilities in finding competitive work opportunities, accounting for each client’s preferences and building relationships with local businesses to facilitate employment. The job includes on-the-job support and accommodations as needed, with coordination among funding sources and families.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience, preferably in human services, sociology, psychology, education, business, marketing, or related field, or two years’ experience in a related field.
Ability to pass and maintain nationally recognized certification as an employment specialist within 24 months of hire.
Experience with presentations, sales, or job development preferred.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to communicate effectively in written or verbal formats.
Ability to make cold calls and be self-motivated.
Ability to operate a computer and navigate Easterseals database; Word and Excel preferred.
Ability to work with a variety of people, with and without disabilities.
Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and lift; transfer or move a minimum of 80 pounds.
Have reliable transportation for work-related travel.
Certified in CPR, First Aid, and Relational Mandt training (or ability to obtain) within 90 days.
Ability to complete Mandatory Reporter training within 30 days.
Ability to work non-traditional hours as required, including weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

Support adults with developmental disabilities in finding competitive work opportunities by understanding clients’ preferred work environments.
Develop relationships with community businesses to facilitate employment opportunities for clients.
Assist clients in seeking accommodations on the job and provide on-the-job support as needed.
Coordinate with funding sources, parents/guardians, and other team members.
Track development activities and provide documentation of services.
