POSITION SUMMARY:

Overland Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented Job Cost Analyst to join our team at the Main Office in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this full-time, salaried/exempt position is responsible for analyzing project costs, identifying financial risks and opportunities, and helping improve company profitability.

The Job Cost Analyst will evaluate project contracts and related documents, monitor the financial performance of multiple construction projects, forecast final project outcomes, and communicate findings to management. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, construction accounting or cost-control experience, and the ability to turn complex financial data into useful information for project and executive leadership.

JOB DUTIES & REQUIREMENTS:
  • Perform cost analysis and spend tracking to monitor project costs, revenue, and projected financial outcomes.
  • Analyze contracts, project documents, budgets, and financial reports for heavy highway and civil construction projects.
  • Follow company processes and accounting practices to document, track, analyze, and report project costs.
  • Prepare and report project-related accruals and deferrals.
  • Monitor job cost reports against budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators.
  • Verify that quantities claimed correspond with owner estimates and supporting project documentation.
  • Track production and payment activities to confirm that projects remain within established budgets.
  • Record and analyze cost information used to control company and project expenditures.
  • Audit project costs, identify discrepancies, and prepare detailed reports for management.
  • Provide management with reports comparing the factors affecting project pricing, costs, and profitability.
  • Assist with the monthly closing of the general ledger.
  • Analyze subcontractor pricing, performance, and cost-benefit considerations.
  • Review project budgets and job costs to identify overlooked items, emerging risks, and potential cost overruns.
  • Communicate financial risks and budget concerns clearly to project managers and company leadership.
  • Prepare financial reports using information gathered from multiple systems and data sources.
  • Assist in developing periodic budgets that support long-term financial and strategic planning.
  • Support project closeout procedures by validating final revenue before the submission of final billings.
  • Support internal and external financial audits for assigned projects.
  • Identify practical cost-reduction opportunities related to schedules, quantities, contracts, materials, and subcontracted work.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential financial records.
  • Communicate professionally with project managers, accounting personnel, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and executive leadership.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a positive driving history.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial statement analysis, and executive reporting.
  • Understanding of job costing, cost control, general ledger accounting, accruals, and deferrals.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, including construction accounting practices.
  • Understanding of construction contracts, subcontract agreements, and change-order processes.
  • Familiarity with heavy highway, civil construction, or related project environments.
  • Ability to identify cost-reduction strategies involving project schedules, quantities, contracts, and production.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Working knowledge of basic algebra, geometry, and construction math concepts.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and present information from multiple data sources.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of two years of construction cost-control or construction accounting experience required.
  • Experience with cost control for heavy highway or other heavy civil construction projects is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English through written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to prepare clear financial reports and explain findings to project managers and executive leadership.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and company information.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Occasional travel to project sites or other company locations may be required.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform other routine office activities.
  • Must be able to lift and carry files, office supplies, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use a computer, keyboard, telephone, calculator, and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to review detailed financial documents and computer-generated reports for extended periods.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication.
  • Occasional visits to active construction sites may require walking on uneven terrain and wearing required personal protective equipment.
  • Primary work location is the Overland Corporation Main Office in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
