Job summary

WGPW Industrial Turbine Services LLC in Bloomfield, CT is seeking a Job Cost Accountant to maintain accurate job costs, inventory, fixed assets, and financial records for timely reporting.

You will review WIP balances, close job orders, prepare journal entries, analyze variances, and support month-end close and external reporting while collaborating across finance, inventory, IT, and customer service teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 1+ years of experience in job cost accounting or manufacturing costing.
• Experience with ERP systems; EPICOR preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills (formulas, lookups, pivots, large data sets).
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Review work-in-process balances to ensure accurate cost recording.
• Close job orders to complete cost records.
• Collaborate with customer service and inventory teams for invoicing and cost-related needs.
• Prepare internal financial reports for management review.
• Support external reporting (tax filings, audits).
• Identify and investigate variances in financial data.
• Post journal entries for accruals and adjustments.
• Reconcile key balance sheet accounts (cash, AR, AP, fixed assets).
• Analyze inventory transactions and valuations for reporting accuracy.
• Oversee fixed asset lifecycle including depreciation schedules.

Position Summary:

The Job Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate job costs, inventory, fixed assets, and financial records to support timely and reliable reporting. This role reviews work-in-process balances, closing job orders, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, analyzing variances, and supports month-end close and external reporting requirements. Working cross-functionally with customer service, inventory, IT, and finance teams, the Job Cost Accountant helps ensure data integrity, strengthens financial controls, and improves accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review work-in-process job balances to ensure accurate recording for cost of sales and accruals.
• Close job orders as required to ensure completeness of cost records.
• Collaborate with customer service and inventory teams to manage job status and any accounting requirements (Invoicing, warranty, job cost of sales, etc.)
• Assist in preparing internal financial reports for management review
• Support external reporting requirements (e.g., tax filings, audits, investor packages)
• Identify and investigate variances in financial data
• Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaids, and adjustments
• Reconcile key balance sheet accounts (e.g., cash, AR, AP, fixed assets)
• Review and validate subledger data for accuracy
• Analyze inventory transactions, variances, and valuation to ensure reporting accuracy, optimize stock levels, and identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory
• Oversee the complete lifecycle of fixed assets, including capital expenditure tracking, asset tagging, and depreciation schedule management
• Recommend and implement improvements to close timelines and data accuracy
• Collaborate with IT or finance systems teams to optimize upload workflows

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or a related field.
• 1+ years of experience in job cost accounting, project finance, or manufacturing costing.
• Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and financial reporting platforms required; experience with EPICOR and tools such as Hyperion, OneStream, or Adaptive Insights preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including the ability to work with formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and large data sets.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally across departments and levels of the organization.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and meet established deadlines in a dynamic environment.
