Journeys In Community Living in Murfreesboro, TN seeks a dedicated Job Coach to help people supported obtain and maintain employment by teaching essential job skills and promoting independence in real work environments.

Qualifications

  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Medication Administration training and Relias certification as applicable.
  • Basic computer skills including typing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must maintain consistent attendance.
  • Must be 18 years or older with a HS diploma.

Responsibilities

  • Support people in daily living activities and develop job skills.
  • Provide on-the-job training and coaching for employment tasks.
  • Document observations and report changes promptly.
  • Transport and accompany to job interviews, orientations and trainings.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow agency policies.

Job description

The primary responsibility of the Job Coach will be to support people in obtaining and maintaining employment which includes helping people learn, grow and become more independent with their jobs, The Job Coach reports to the Employment Supervisor and will not have supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide direct support for people supported with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, toileting, eating, housekeeping, ambulating, and transferring, etc.), routines, developing job skills, and learning new skills personalized to each person as well as monitoring medical and health related tasks
  • Understands and promotes people supported goals and rights as well as personal dignity, respect, individualism, and quality of life in the workplace
  • Provides opportunities for choice making and identifying and acquiring valued social roles in integrated community setting, including but not limited to membership in local groups, clubs and organizations
  • Administer medications according to Medication Safety guidelines
  • Treat persons supported with respect at ALL times
  • Implement and follow various plans and programs such as dining, therapies, community, job development plans etc.
  • Promotes employment opportunities by educating, exposing, and providing experiences within the community and following career preferences
  • Document observations and activities and person supported responses to activities accurately and in a timely manner
  • Reports changes in person supported conditions or family situations
  • Assures person supported safety and maintains safe environment while pursing employment goals
  • Provide on the job training, coaching and support to ensure that the person can perform their job duties efficiently and effectively
  • Support people with personal responsibilities
  • Communicate and work with other team members effectively to aid in improving the quality of people’s lives
  • Participate in team meetings for people supported
  • Transport and accompanying people supported job interviews, orientations, training, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality of people supported
  • Follow agency policies and procedures
  • Complete accurate reportable and non-reportable events before end of shift, as needed
  • Meet attendance requirements at assigned location(s)
  • Assist the Person Supported in identifying potential employment interests
  • Complete required monitoring and check-ins with job sites and the person supported to ensure success with people in independent placements
Other Functions
  • Attend training as assigned
  • Complete emergency drills as assigned
  • Participate in agency committees as assigned
  • Cover shifts in different departments as needed
  • All other duties as assigned by management
Required Skills
  • Maintain CPR and First Aid Certification, Medication Administration training, Relias, and other trainings and certifications as required within assigned timeframes
  • Maintain Certification such as TRN, CESP or others as required
  • Basic computer skills including typing
  • Competent in written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to meet consistent attendance requirements
Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Class D Driver license for State of Tennessee
  • Ability to achieve required certifications such as TRN or CESP
  • 6 months experience teaching work and/or life skills
