Full-Time | On-Site Monday–Friday

Take the Next Step Toward Running Your Own Projects

Prevail Recruiting has partnered with a highly respected, long-established architecture firm in Downtown Los Angeles to add an experienced Senior Job Captain to its growing team.

With more than 50 years in practice, the firm has built an extensive portfolio of significant projects throughout California and beyond, including institutional, educational, civic, community and other complex facilities.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Job Captain who has developed strong technical skills and is ready for greater project ownership and a clear path toward managing projects independently.

You'll work directly with senior architects, consultants and clients while contributing to projects from design development and entitlement through construction documents and construction administration.

This is not a production-only role. The firm is looking for someone who understands how buildings actually come together, can solve problems, coordinate multiple disciplines and help drive projects forward.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Job Captain, you'll take an active role in the technical development and execution of projects, including:

  • Develop and coordinate architectural drawing sets from design development through construction documents
  • Produce and manage project documentation using Revit
  • Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, MEP and other consultants
  • Review plans, details and specifications for accuracy and constructability
  • Respond to RFIs and assist with submittal and shop drawing reviews
  • Participate in entitlement, permitting and agency coordination
  • Apply California Building Code, accessibility/ADA requirements and applicable local codes
  • Assist with construction administration and resolution of field issues
  • Perform Quality Control reviews of project documents
  • Coordinate project schedules, deadlines and deliverables
  • Communicate directly with consultants, engineers and internal project teams
  • Help mentor and coordinate junior architectural staff
  • Participate in client and project meetings
  • Take increasing ownership of projects with the goal of ultimately running your own projects
What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is technically strong, organized and capable of working with limited supervision.

Required qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related architectural discipline
  • 3–5+ years of professional Job Captain or comparable architectural experience
  • Strong recent experience working on projects in California
  • Excellent knowledge of California building codes, accessibility requirements and construction documentation
  • Experience producing and coordinating complete construction document sets
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with architects, engineers and outside consultants
  • Experience with RFIs, submittals and construction administration
  • Strong understanding of architectural detailing and constructability
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a larger project team

Experience with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion and Microsoft Office is also valuable.

A Revit/technical skills assessment will be part of the interview process.

Architectural licensure is not required, although candidates actively pursuing California licensure are encouraged to apply.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join an established firm where you can continue developing technically while gaining significantly more responsibility.

The firm offers:

  • $90,000–$120,000 base salary, depending on experience
  • Bonus opportunity
  • Established firm with 50+ years of history
  • Diverse and technically interesting project portfolio
  • Direct exposure to senior architects and firm leadership
  • Opportunity to work through multiple phases of a project
  • Increasing project ownership
  • Professional development and mentorship
  • Potential path toward Project Architect / Project Manager responsibilities

The ideal person is someone who has already proven themselves as a Job Captain and is thinking:
