Job summary

Jupiter Medical Center located in Florida is seeking an Urgent Care Tech to join their team. The Urgent Care Tech will be responsible for taking vital signs, preparing patient medical records, and performing various tests. Candidates must possess EMT or Paramedic qualifications, excellent communication, and customer service skills. Florida licensure is required, along with American Heart Association BLS Certification.

This is a physically demanding role that requires the ability to lift patients and equipment. The position offers opportunities for cross-training and flexibility among multiple locations.

Qualifications

Education
  • Graduate of an accredited Program preferred.
  • High school Graduate or Equivalent.
  • Two (2) years college preferred.
Experience / Qualifications
  • Paramedic or EMT required.
  • Florida licensure required in respective modality.
  • Experience working as a Paramedic or EMT or equivalent in a health care setting.

Position Summary
  • The Urgent Care Tech performs duties such as, but not limited to taking vital signs and preparing the patient medical record for the provider.
  • Proficient in Phlebotomy.
  • Proficient in Urgent Care duties.
  • Prepares patient medical record for the provider.
  • Accurately and efficiently performs specimen collections and testing as defined by laboratory policy and procedure manuals.
  • Computer data entry and workflow monitoring.
  • Assesses environment to assure patient safety.
  • Maintains chain of custody for forensic collections.
  • Performs surveillance exams: hearing tests, vision screening, spirometry, EKG.
  • Performs breath alcohol testing and urine drug screening.
  • Ensures accurate documentation.
  • Ensures adequate supplies and is knowledgeable in operation of equipment.
  • Ensures current credentials and /or certifications.
  • This position will cross train to support the front desk staff and responsibilities.
  • Ability to utilize more than one computer system for registration, patient test result and billing.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility.
  • Answers phone and faxes reports.
  • Maintains a clean environment.
  • Understands quality control and expected results for POCT tests performed.
  • Discharges patients efficiently.
  • Able to function under stress and emergency situations.
  • Promotes effective communications between patients, staff, physicians, and visitors.
  • Provides knowledge of Urgent Care injuries and illnesses and facilitates early return to work.
  • Maintains compliance with hospital/Urgent Care procedural standards.

  • This position requires flexibility in travel amongst all Jupiter Medical Center Urgent Care locations.

Physical Requirements

This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. The team member will need to frequently assist lifting patients and heavy equipment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert, and self-motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift up to 50lbs.

  • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation.

  • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).
