Job summary

State of Utah is seeking a part-time, in-office role at the Juvenile Justice and Youth Services facility in Cedar City, UT. You will support youth in care, monitor activity, coordinate programs, and assist with safety protocols under supervision.

The position requires rotating shifts, weekend availability, and a Utah driver’s license. Prioritizes teamwork, strong communication, and commitment to community safety.

Qualifications

• Availability to work rotating shifts, days, swings, graveyard, weekends and holidays.
• Preferences: 21+, high school diploma or GED, multilingual, Utah driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with youth ordered into the care and custody of JJYS.
• Monitor visitors and residents within the facility.
• Schedule and coordinate activities for the youth.
• Assist Supervisors with perimeter checks.
• Resolve potentially dangerous situations to ensure safety of staff, youth, and the public.
• Transport Youth.
• Multi-tasking: answering phones, scheduling visits, operating the Control Board.
• Communicate information clearly in writing.

Key Responsibilities

Day-to-day Responsibilities Of This Position

• Work closely with youth ordered into the care and custody of JJYS
• Monitor visitors and residents within the facility
• Schedule and coordinate activities for the youth
• Assist Supervisors with perimeter checks
• Resolve potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, youth and or the public by applying appropriate intervention techniques to people, facilities and property
• Transport Youth
• Multi-tasking: Answering phones, scheduling visits, working the Control Board which opens doors for staff.
• Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing (read and understand information presented in writing)

Qualifications

Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:

Preferred Or Trainable/on-the-job Qualifications

• Candidates 21 years of age or older
