Job summary

East Marshall CSD is seeking an enthusiastic junior high coach to lead the JH Boys Basketball program for the 2026–27 school year. Compensation is according to the East Marshall CSD Extracurricular Salary Schedule.

Starting date is immediate, with consideration for internal applicants first. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of fundamentals, strategy, and skill development, and is able to obtain Iowa Coaching Authorization if needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and skill development at the junior high level.
• Ability to obtain Iowa Coaching Authorization, if not currently held.
• Strong communication with student-athletes and families.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct organized, skill-focused practices for JH student-athletes.
• Develop and implement a game-day strategy appropriate for the JH level.
• Ensure a safe, positive, and competitive environment for all participants.
• Communicate regularly with building administration and the Activities Director.
• Monitor academic eligibility and student conduct per district and IHSAA/IGHSAU guidelines.
• Represent East Marshall CSD with professionalism at contests and events.
• Other duties as assigned by the Activities Director or administration.

POSITION OVERVIEW

East Marshall CSD is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable coach to lead the JH Boys Basketball program for the 2026–27 school year. Compensation is according to the East Marshall CSD Extracurricular Salary Schedule.

REQUIRED CREDENTIALS

• Current East Marshall CSD employee or qualified external applicant
• Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and skill development at the junior high school level
• Ability to obtain Iowa Coaching Authorization, if not currently held

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous coaching experience at the junior high or high school level — preferred, not required
• Experience playing or coaching basketball — preferred, not required
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with student-athletes and families
• Commitment to student development both on and off the court

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
