Overview

A private family based in the Kalorama area of Washington, DC is seeking an experienced, trustworthy, and discreet full-time executive housekeeper to join their household on a long-term basis. The principals live primarily in Europe and keep a DC home they visit periodically. An adult son attends university nearby and is home on weekends and breaks. The family is looking for someone reliable and professional who takes pride in maintaining a beautiful home to a high standard even when the principals are away.

The typical schedule will be Monday through Friday, working at least 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• General and detailed housekeeping throughout the residence
• Laundry and ironing
• Organization and daily upkeep of the home
• Careful handling of furniture, clothing, and household belongings
• Receiving deliveries and mail
• Answering the door and receiving guests
• Cooking is a plus but not required

Qualifications

• Discreet and not talkative
• Able to read the room and transition out of the principals’ way
• Presentable and professional in appearance; uniform required
• Must know how to iron (flagged as a common gap in the candidate pool)
• Long-term fit strongly preferred over short term
• Driving is a plus but not required
