Job summary

Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC) is seeking a part-time MSJA Academy Assistant in New York, NY to work closely with the Site Coordinator and support middle school jazz students. This role involves setting up rooms, helping with materials, and assisting during auditions and events.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for jazz education, have experience managing youth, and be able to communicate effectively with families.

Qualifications

• Interest in jazz education and serving the needs of middle school students.
• Experience managing middle school students and working with parents is preferred.
• Excellent instrumental ability in piano, percussion, bass, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, flute, or saxophone.

Responsibilities

• Set up rooms with instruments, chairs, and stands.
• Prepare course materials, photocopying, laminating etc.
• Review student assignments and journals.
• Communicate with families to ensure full student participation upon request.
• Accompany staff and students to offsite events as needed.
• Participate in planning and professional development meetings with staff and faculty as necessary.
• Participate in the student audition process as requested.
• Complete any other duties or responsibilities assigned.
