Job summary

Insight Global is seeking 5 Sr. Java/React Developers for a large Retail customer. You will design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Java applications in a fast-paced Agile environment, collaborating with architects, product owners, and QA engineers to deliver scalable software.

Insight Global is seeking 5 Sr. Java/React Developers for a large Retail customer. These contractors will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade Java applications that support mission-critical business operations. Working closely with cross-functional teams — including solution architects, product owners, and QA engineers — the contractor will be expected to deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions in a fast-paced Agile environment. This engagement requires a self-directed professional who can contribute meaningfully from day one with minimal ramp-up time.

Design, develop, test, and deploy high-performance Java applications aligned to enterprise standards and architectural guidelines.

Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that adheres to established engineering best practices and team coding standards.

Participate in the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, system design, coding, testing, and production deployment.

Collaborate with solution architects to design scalable microservices architectures and robust API contracts.

Develop, expose, and consume RESTful and/or SOAP web services across distributed system boundaries.

Integrate with relational and NoSQL databases; write and optimize queries for performance and reliability.

Actively participate in peer code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards and practices.

Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application defects and performance issues across production and non-production environments.

Work within Agile/Scrum delivery frameworks, including participation in sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.

Support DevOps practices by contributing to and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated build/deployment tooling.

Skills and Requirements

7+ years of hands-on Java development experience; Java 11, 17, or 21 strongly preferred.

Deep proficiency in the Spring Framework ecosystem, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, and Spring Security.

Proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices architectures at enterprise scale.

Solid grounding in OOP principles, software design patterns, and SOLID design principles.

Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL) including writing complex, optimized SQL queries.

Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools including Docker and Kubernetes.

Proficiency with version control systems such as Git, GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.

Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or comparable tooling.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and verbal/written communication skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote or hybrid contract engagement.

Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Familiarity with message broker technologies such as Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.

Experience with NoSQL databases including MongoDB, Redis, or Amazon DynamoDB.

Knowledge of API gateway tools and service mesh solutions (e.g., Kong, Istio) Exposure to front-end technologies such as Angular or React is a plus

Relevant industry certifications, such as Oracle Java SE Certified Professional, AWS Certified Developer, or equivalent
