Sammons Financial Group is seeking an experienced Sr. Java Developer to help modernize a mission‑critical insurance administration platform. You will design, implement, and mentor within a joint team migrating from COBOL/VSAM mainframe to Java-based systems.
You will contribute to architecture decisions, guide modernization initiatives, and collaborate with business partners to deliver scalable, reliable software in a fast-paced environment.
This position may be filled at the Systems Analyst 1, 2, 3 or 4 level, based on skills, experience, and alignment to the role's scope as evaluated through our structured selection process.
As an experienced Sr. Java Developer at Sammons Financial Group within our Corporate Markets business unit, you'll join a team of experienced developers with the unique opportunity to play a key role in transforming a mission-critical insurance administration platform that has supported our business for more than 40 years. You'll help guide the migration from COBOL and VSAM-based mainframe technology to a modern Java-based architecture. This is a hands-on development role where you'll contribute to solution design, architecture discussions, and software implementation while helping mentor other members of the team.
This team supports all aspects of Bank-Owned Life Insurance (BOLI), Credit Union-Owned Life Insurance (CUOLI), and Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) within our Corporate Markets business unit. We strive to provide solutions that will position Corporate Markets for the future and maintain the great customer service our customers are used to and expect. Our modernization effort will allow us to meet the changing demands of our customers as we continue to grow in the future.
USD $84,721.00 - USD $176,501.00 /Yr. We are open to hiring this role at the Systems Analyst 1, 2, 3, or 4 levels based on your skills, experience, and demonstrated competencies. Leveling considers your qualifications, the scope and complexity you've owned, and alignment to the role's scope.
The base salary range for Systems Analyst 1 is $61,622 - $102,702, Systems Analyst 2 is $68,462 - $114,102, Systems Analyst 3 is $84,721 - $141,201, and Systems Analyst 4 is $94,134 - $156,889. Range includes data points from multiple labor markets. Specific range is dependent on the labor market where the incumbent will be hired to perform the position. Starting salary will be based on job level, candidate qualifications and experience, internal equity and geographical location.
